you CAN easily install it yourself, however.

that sounds much more like it!
you may want to try to wash it yourself first. some ARE washable...not sure if yours is or not. if i where you, i would just wash/clean it before i spent the $45 and the time to install it myself.
it will not kill you to just clean it as good as you can and keep using the same one. some of us 2k and 2k1 owners (myself included), don't even have a filter - since they were optional equipment for us!
