Whats wrong with my brakes?!

When the brakes are cold, there is no problem. After using them a little, they start to have a grinding feel (and sound) to them. I can actually feel it on the floorboard of the car.. They also seem to get more sensitive (takes less pressure to stop) after they are warm. if i apply pressure to the brakes at high speed, the steering wheel shakes like crazy. I dont get much squeaking from them, but i have heard them squeak a little. do i just need new pads or is it a bigger problem? its a 2000 GLE with 45000 miles. thanks

a shaking steering wheel tends to point to warped rotors which is a know issue on 00/01. mine were warped at 9k. nissan has a tsb on warping rotors but you are out of the 36k/3yr warranty for tsbs. you can look at having the rotors turned which is a band aid fix or replacing the rotors. obviously have the pads looked at to see if the rotors caused any damage to them.

probably metal on metal contact with the caliper and rotor. the pads are probably close to non-existence.

your rotors are warped and grinding against your pads

I have the same problem!!!!. Ever since I installed new pads, I've had issues with my brakes.
I'm considering slotted rotors. I haven't heard of any aweful drama with those.
