Improved Mileage and Performance

well i had a bunch of problems with my 2k Max performance and mileage wise and have been looking EVERYWHERE to try and figure out what i could do to fix my baby. Bascially i took my Max into my trusted machanic and he basically did 3 things. He changed my oil to Synthetic, changed my ATF fluid and cleaned out my Trottle body. All of which cost me alittle less than $100 labor included. After that i felt a immediate improvement to my MAx. She is accelerating faster and the ride/gear changes have been smooth as silk. And best of all my 270 miles per tank has jumped jumped up to 320 miles (with 2 more gallons let over in the tank). Oh and i also added the Chevron Techron Concentrate into my tank to clean out the insides of my engine. So if you guys seem to be not satisfied with your Max performance or my main concern my gas mileage you might want to go visit ur near by machanic.

Thanks for the Info max2kSE, I was experiencing a similar problem and one of my boyz suggested switching to synthetic. You have confirmed it so I'll do it!!

most partial synthetics are a waste of money. either go with quality dino oil such as castrol gtx or step up to full synthetics like amsoil and mobil 1.

i find that max gets crap for mileage when it doesnt warm up much. I've been doin just commuting like 7 miles to school and back, and i've been doin at best 23 mpg. In the summer, that was up around 28 or so when it was warmer out and I had a longer drive. But oh the power in cold weather is sooooo nice

I also have a 2k gxe 5spd and noway could have achieved the same results..my only mod is Berk intake, av. speed is about 75. The light comes on at 325-350 mi, with 4.5 gallons remaining in the tank. My car has 44k mi on it.

ugh... i get 19-21mpg in the city. And the semi-synthetics I used sucked! I dont feel any improvements. Bought MObil 1 Synthetic from Walmart for 18.88 for 5 quarts (good deal).
