i ran into a dude driving a 3.2 cl Type-s that sounded really nice. a nice deep grumble and not a rattle or pop anywhere. i asked him what he had and he said comptech headers and sometime of catback maybe apexi N1 and an intake of course. when he said this all i could think about was the obnoxious noise that eminated from my old 95 5 speed se when i put on a budget y pipe and stillen cat-back. the power was awesome but the noise was unbearable. Anyway i wanna get the stillen headers and a cat-back for my 02 6 speed SE and i'm wondering am i looking at a noise more along the lines of the acura or back to my old 95. if it's like the 95 then there's no f***in' way i'm doing that to this car, that was a big determining factor as to why i sold the 95. i had just the cat-back and a weapon-r intake first and i loved the way that sounded then the y pipe made it not to my liking. so i have a few questions
1.would the comptech headers have included a downpipe like stillens do.
2.can you use the headers without the downpipe, will it still line up, are there pre-cats going to have to be removed like the 95, if i do use the downpipe.
3 what kind of power will be lost from not using the downpipe would it be worth it yadda yadda... lemme know what you think, what would you guys do and what have you done?

 

Any stillen exhaust sounds tinny IMO. 1.Yes. 2. NO. If you want performance with reasonable sound get y-pipe with a cattman or stock exhaust. check out http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....704post2434704, for sound of y-pipe with greddy. greddy is significantly louder then stock and cattman. also there is a TON of info on this topic, do a search
