Shell V-Power Gasoline?

OK, just noticed that Shell (not my favorite gasoline) has a "new" type of gasoline. Their premium is now badged "V-Power" and they are now charging an additional 5 cents (above their already inflated prices).

Questions:
1) Is this just a marketing ploy? (I suspect yes) or does somebody know if they actually do anything different. Kinda make me think of the one Simpson episode where three different beers out of the Duff factory come from one main line on a screen pan out.
2) Is it (or any Shell gas) better than the Mobile 1 Premium (93 Oct) that I currently use?

Thanks!
Colonel

You will be hard pressed to find any reviews on gasoline. One org member did a long term study and found that Shell left red deposits on his spark plugs. Sunoco left virtually no deposits. Many people have chimed in stating that Amoco also leaves virtually no deposits. Both my Durango and Maxima run horrible on Shell gasoline with both pinging. Both cars run great on Amoco and Sunoco. I prefer Amoco because it's more easily available.

I have a lot of friends that are Petroleum Engineers and the majority of them say that it's all the same.

Google search turns-up a wealth of sites/links outisde the US market (translate the pages). Here's a reference from South Africa: http://www2.shell.com/home/Framework..._10221418.html

Yeah, my Max doesn't run well on Shell gas. Makes it ping a lot more than other brands of gas. It likes Chevron, but its like 20 miles away, so I don't usually get the Chevron.

I only run Shell and never have had any pinging.

Gas price (the price for anything) has nothing with what it does or how much it costs to produce. It is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it.

I am of the opinion that gas is gas is gas is gas. (But I get Air Miles for mine!)

Here in Quebec super is 6 to 8 cents more than regular, per litre (3.5 litre to the gal) but in Ontario super is 15-20 cents more than regular. Regular is cheaper in Ontario than in Quebec but Super is more. No real reason except it's a different way to screw us plebes.

I use Shell 93 and it works fine. From what I can tell I haven't noticed any differences in the brands.

I only put amoco/BP in my car Holiday blue pkanet gas sucks. We had a store here in MN with race gas but the thing was you wouldn't allow you to put it in your car there you had to put it in containers then put it in later. But once I found that BP store they had just changed it to a kerosene tank.

As I stated before Cheveron 93 or Sunoco 93 seem to work the best in my Max.
