I have tried searching with no success on this question so any suggestions are appriciated.

Recently as the weather has been colder here in Jersey I have found on a few occasions that when I first start up and turn the steering wheel it doesn't turn all the way but rather stops (like it hit something), I'll try and turn again and it's fine. I have noticed this seems to be getting more presistant now as it's staying colder. FYI I have also noticed more of a whine when turning etc.


I have done on 2 seperate particial power steering fluid changes and a friend of mine says it sounds like the seals in the power steering.

I have no warranty and I need this like a fifth wheel, so any thoughts of anything I can do. What/where are the seals can I replace them or do I need a new PS pump? Also my friend said to try and get a PS sealer and put some in, anyone every experience this?

Check your power steering belt. It may be loose and slipping when you first turn it. After it heats up it may grip better and work.

 

So it might becaused by a loose belt, how do I tighten the belts?

 

Has anyone experienced problems with the power steering on a 2K or 2K1? Like the problems that I'm experiencing?

 

Oh....man.....I'm sorry to hear the problem......but compare to mine it was nothing.......
one day all of sudden every time I drive my car it was making weird noise I mean like when u step on a gas as the engine sound grows this clanking noise grows along with the engine sound.......So I didn't think it was anything serious and all but I took it to my mechanic anyway, he told me to comeback on weekend so he could put my car on the lift to check out the cause. I told him I hope it's not anything serious, he said he hope it's nothing serious too but he told me he didn't like the noise and he warn me if he was me he wouldn't drive the car. I told him, I need my Max this weekend for this upcoming big Maxima meet in Rutgers so I gotta attend so I took a risk driving it but guess what my Max couldn't make it all the way to the meet me and my friend stopped at the rest stop to meet up with other org member so we could caravan to the meet but my powersteering fluid just drained to the ground so I bought the brand new bottle and it just drained the whole bottle so I had to leave my Max at the rest stop and got it towed. Clanking noise was the from the powersteering pump the pulley was all bent up.....so I had to get the whole thing fixed and costed me almost $800......I hope it's not the same problem.
