HID's how long they last and how much they cost?
I've been around Xenon since 98.... I used to be a Audi Master Tech and the new A6 when it came out in 98 had Xenon as a option. I've seen a FEW get new bulbs OR igniter units after like 4 years, but a few, 90% of em are still rolln on the orignial OE units. They used Hella igniter and Osram or Phillips bulbs. I have a set of Audi A8 igniters and transformers with Acura CL-S Osram D2R bulbs which are around 6500K on my 01 GXE with AE headlights, I've custom rigged up everything and the lights are unbelivable. They are sooo bright that I don't even have high beams. Stock high beams in my car are a joke compared to my HIDs. I also have HIDs in my fog lights.... pays to work for luxury car companies

I don't think you need to change the ignitors but someone here can give you a more straightforward anwer
Also, right now it's about 100 dollars for each capsule (bulb)....and in like 4 years the price should have dropped significantly
I know D2R bulbs are more expensive than the older D2D bulbs and are more supperior to the old bulbs- I had HIDs in my Max since brand new and D2D bulbs sucked compared to D2Rs, but then again D2D bulbs where still WAY better than stock or some "HID" wanna be Polarg, or PIAA bulb. I know that customer price on a Bulb from Acura is 178 bux. This is for a 6500K D2R bulb. U can put these in a Maxima with the 4K D2R bulb. Anything over 7K is a waste, friend of mine works for Osram and showed me the new 10000K kit they got and it looks like looking right at a light given off a MIG or TIG welder while welding. Mess up alot of people on the road with these. DEF illegal.
