Battle of the nissans!!!

It's about to be a race tonight and my friend wants to run against me. He has a 93 240sx manual, he has a cai and proformance flywheel also a exhaust. Should I not race him since I don't have any mod's as of yet( I just got the car like three weeks ago). What are my chances? He keeps telling me that he is going to beat me by like five cars, what do you guys think if I won't beat him now what would I need to beat him?

You need to find a new friend, this one is an idiot... His car is a high 15 sec car, you should be a high 14 sec car.

First of all, no disrespect to 240sx, they are one of the best Nissans in the states in the last couple years.

I have couple quesions, does he have a SOHC or a DOHC?, you said he's got a exhaust, just a muffler or a catback exhaust?

I'll just assumes his got best of everything, DOHC engine, and a catback exhaust.

KA24DE with intake maybe adds 5HP (Being optimistic), lightened fly wheel (10HP, still being optimistic), catback exhaust (8HP, yes still being optimistic). that combinds for 23HP incrase over the 155HP. so let me add this...humm......bad with math, better pull out the calculator.. 178Hp w/ manual transmission..

Assuming you have a Automatic, Your VQ35DE will smoke his as$, over powering him in every spec. In a straight line, However, don't go on twisties, his suspension is like A LOT better than yours.

Good Luck!

He has a catback. Also the only thing is I saw him race a couple of people and smoke them but then again it wasn't a Max

he may have less power but then again he is much lighter

Drop the SR into those babies

Well you should have no problem, from a roll or from a stop? If from a stop, get traction!

Oh, 3 weeks ago? Is it brand new? There goes the whole breaking in the engine procedure

You will pull him out of the hole, and beat him by ~4 cars to 70 mph. These are nice cars and can be built up, but stock for stock, or even lightly modded like your friend, he really stands no chance. Tell him to go back to racing Preludes and Civic SI's.

They are quick off the line but have no upper range... as they say... the KA is a truck engine.

Easy kill for a Max, even when I had my Altima 2.4 I would rape the 240 which was supposed to be the sportscoupe of Nissan poorman's division for those who couldn't afford the Z.

Believe you me, you will rape his @$$ tonight.

Unless your friend swaps in an SR20DET motor with some basic mods, don't bother. It wont even be close; you'll smoke him handily.

Peace.

Well Everyone the night came Sat, we lined up we had about 15 people who wanted to see this. And since this was my first race I was nervous with all those people talking and trying to bet. We ran on an old airport runway, he just pulled up to the line revving his engine all loud and $hit. I'll admit it did kind of intimidate me at first but I held my ground. So they waved us to go and I punched it so we both burned out like a sec then we were off. He had me at first since his was a stick but when we got to like 40 mph we were neck and neck, when I got to 90 mph I was ahead of him like 2-3 cars since I could see his whole car in back of me. I felt so damn good, and you know what people's first thing to say when they lose a race is that they didn't get off well so we went again and the same result. I don't think he's going to talk to me for like a week. Also I came up $50 dollars so that goes to my first mod!!!! Thanks guys for all the help and support in my first kill in the Max.

Like I said: no SR20DET, no chance!! If you had a 6sp, it would have traumatized him.

Hello...do you really know anything about Nissans, or is your SN just something you picked out of a hat? He said it was a '93 model, and all '93 model 240's were DOHC engines...same as '92.

Plenty of fast KA24DE-T's in the world...probably more of those here in the US than SR20DET's...

The KA24 at 7 PSi with available "bolt on" turbo kits is at 235-240 RWHP, and extremely fast (only 2500 lbs). That's in the 13's easy...go to 10 PSi (about the max safe totally stock bottom end for the KA), and you're in the low 13's...maybe less with more weight reduction and proper suspension. You can do all that for under $7000, and that includes vehicle purchase price.

NO SIR I don't know ANYTHING about Nissan~ Can you tell me what they are? I know early 240s have SOHC engine and then changed to DOHC setup. I don't own a 240, so I wasn't sure what year they made the change, Alright?! There's no need to bash me (and my screen name)

P.S. yes I could spend 2min of my time to do a search on "Msn Auto", but I don't feel like searching.

We have quite a few KA-T's and SR20DET's here in GA...and hopefully one more soon

nismotech, I wasn't really trying to be an ***, but after reading what I posted, it sure came off that way. Maybe it wasn't enough coffee this morning or something...

Come to think of it, 240SXs are RARE here in NJ. I can go weeks before seeing one. Especially 1G models.
