Cattman Coilovers Installed....thoughts....

so today i was finally able to install the coilovers. i was too anxious...and irritated cause i took a day off from work to install them and never got to it.

install was fairly simple. nissan's fault in the way they setup their rear suspension. getting to the rear upper strut mount is a PITA, especially 1 of the 2 bolts. you have to use an extension bit to get at it from a different angle, but you will get to it. other than that, install was fairly simple. for those that do their own suspension or those that want to, some jack stands are a must. when you do the rears, especially if doing them alone, to lift the rear axle to reach the lower part of the strut, use your jack to lift it up, makes the job much easier.

so yes, install was easy and very straight forward. first thing i noticed....A LOT, and i mean A LOT of threads. as compared to the GC's, which had like 20 threads total, i''d have to say the cattman coilovers have about 50+ threads. why do i like this....1)precise turns....2) snug fit. no jiggling around.

so onto more pluses. cattman and progress seemed to have covered everything as far as the setup is concerned so that nothing feels "wiggly". no loose parts. all VERY VERY snug and tight fit. vey shiny struts, and very clean quality finish.

i finished installing them about an hour ago. went for a quick test drive. all i can say is wow.....like a tear came out of my eye. imagine having the stock feel, but now 2.5" lower, i was like WOW this is nice. i went over a few quick bumps and the car took them very sturdy, very stiff, but you didn't feel the bump. the struts took the impact very nicely. and this is while i was dropped. and for all you that know my fetish with lowriders, my tires and fenders are even all around. so i was pretty low. no finger gap.

now onto the best part...i dind't drive it like how i'm about to explain, but i wish i did. let's set an imaginary level of height. gc's, 0 being lowest and 10 being highest, and cattman's 0 being lowest as well and 10 being highest.

on my gc's, i had them at around 3, so i matched them up with the cattman's. in order for the catt's to be at the gc's 3 height level, the catts were at about 7. i was like WOW.....that just tells me how much lower i can go...WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO
so just for ****s and giggles, i lowered the cattman's to about 3 all around. how low did that go....well HA....i had about 1.5-2" tired tuck all the way around. i couldn't get the jack under the car, i dont' even know how low i was, all i know i was VERY VERY low. too low to be normal, i just had to raise it again, i wouldn't last a day. but i woultn' be surprised if those coilovers handled JUST AS GOOD that low.

so my overall impression. i'm so so so so so happy with my new suspension. i love them. they feel, ride, and stand really nice. installation is very good, and very snug. nothing bad at all that i can say about these. i know this was long, but i just really had to give my review. i'm gonna go shower and head to manhattan, the ultimate in potholes and speedbumps and even highways. this will really show how good these are. worth evey prenny i spent. ok...peace.

i'm in the office most of the early morning hours, but in the afternoon i'm meeting up with my boy to redo my center console (2-way mirror, you figure it out) and replace my sub box.i believe he's in the middle villiage area. more than welcome to come by and we can talk for a bit. wont' be till around 4pm.
thank you though, i try not to settle with what's available, but rather with what would considered the best in quality, materials, etc... so in essence, i am getting for what i pay for.

i'll try and post some pics, but if i do, it's with the catt's lowered ALL the day, just to show you how low it can go.

I figured the ride would be nice.... but what about the noise man?!?!? All coilovers have noise. Did these new ones squeak and ping and carry on like all other coilovers? How quiet or NOT quiet are they?

i know you're looking for a flaw...unfortunately, i can't find one...everything's fine on this. stiff ride, but no stiff feel, no bounciness, and i can drop LOW.....install is clean....all parts lock into place, and are firm, tight, nothing loose.

on my book

Something has to be wrong with them. Please find something soon. I hear my checking account draining now as I type.

They are the 3rd Generation Coilover System from Progress and Cattman and they are superb for $1400..the only reason there not up in the price range of JIC's is that there not ride adjustable...Fine by me because these were made for the car, and I never really know if Im on the right setting any way
