Hood Shaking on 03

This may already be answered on here but I can't find any info on here about it. But, is there a TSB or any info on the hood shaking on these cars? My shakes like it is ready to fall off during normal driving-60 mph. Any help is appreciated

I read through the TSB page and there is nothing--besides I can't open half of them. And the link above does not work!

The above link works fine, I used it yesterday and 5 minutes ago. Here is the specific TSB listed on that site for 01' - 02' hood vibration: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/ntb02-005.pdf

The TSB only applies to the 2002's. For the 03, adjust the bump stops up and down (located at the front corners of the hood) until the hood stops shaking. Mine did this forever unitl I adjusted them. Also the nissan bra helps with that too by stopping the air from getting into the gaps around the edges of the hood and making it shake. Alot of ppl will tell you that the bras are bad for the paint and that they scratch, but I have had no problems to date. Good luck

Hmmmm...well, both links work on this end but as E55 mentioned mentioned the only reference to "hood vibration" is for 01' & 02's anyway. I did not see anything there for the 03' and this problem. Maybe his advice will assist you. Good luck (I have that problem on my 02' so I've been checking into it as well).

what browser are you using? That link works fine. Are you using that POS AOL browser??

You can take the '02 TSB to the dealer and argue it's happening on your '03. All he'll have to do is take off the insulation and see the welds are broken. Whether he does it under the TSB or under warranty, they will fix it either way.

And install Adobe reader so you can see the documents.

Our 2002 Maxima SE has this very same problem. At 75mph and the normal wind that blows around here, I think the hood may be safer sitting in the garage than on my car(ala Honda Civic mod....). We have delivered the car to the dealership on 3 occasions and all 3 occasions included a "request" for them to fix this annoying problem...They have the TSB and they still cannot get our hood to sit like it is fully secure. I am rather disappointed with this along with the crappy paint(but that is a whole other subject)...

bring it back and tell them the welds are broken and they need to take the insulation off and find the broken ones. They have liquid weld crap that will last through the next ice age and that will fix it. It will help if you can direct them to the 'bad' place...mine was just in front of the driver's windshield wiper. There were 3 broken welds...all better now.

Same problem here. (SE 03) -- Have you adjusted the bump stops and does that work? I am contemplating taking it back to the dealer for adjustment but if this works, I would rather do so than drive the 40 miles to/from the dealer.

Let me know.

on my 03, I just raised the bump stops. The rubber stops are set up to kind of screw up and down. Just raise them up like E55AMG2 said and that should fix the problem. It fixed mine great.
