Pricing Question

Ok, now...I need the expertise of some of you older people (I don't mean OLD...I mean older than me...I'm 14 )...

Would it be possible, a little less than a year from now (about Aug. or Sept.) to get a 2k Max for less than $8,000? That's from anywhere...not neccessarily a dealer or privately...

Also, with less than 100k miles on it, leather, moonroof, and maybe Bose...

A year from now, you will be able to find a decent 2K Maxima decent miles for under $10K for sure. A loaded 2K Max will probably still run you over $10K - somewhere closer to $11000-$12500.

If a brand new 2K Max Loaded went for ~$26K, you can safely assume a $3000 hit with every model year thereafter, with the 05's coming out next year, factor used car market on 04's, 03's, 02's, 01's, and 00's. Five model years X $3000 depreciation = $15000, subtracting that from the original $26000, and that leaves you with $11000. With as plentiful as Maxima's are, you will find a decent deal.

Start saving young man !

Heh, well...I plan on being able to get atleast $4,000 from my parents...and HOPEFULLY about $3,500 of my own. So $7,500 isn't the greatest amount...but I'm trying not to have to take a loan out from the bank if at all possible...

My birthday is also a month from now, so include 2 birthday's worth of money

Really I'd like to just buy a 2k or so and put on the 2k2/2k3 HID's and taillights...simple stuff like that...

Not as good as a 2k2/2k3 obviously because it doesn't have the 3.5L engine, but oh well...

a max is a nice car, but you'd be better of buying a less expensive car and saving some of that money for other stuff... it's nice to have a nice car, but it sucks if it sits in the driveway all the time because you can't afford to do anything because you spent all your money on the car.

That's the whole purpose of this thread. I wanted to know if I could get one that cheap because it's a nice car, but I don't want to spend TOO much on it so I can still use money from a job for mods and stuff.

Get a low mileage, late model 4th Gen instead, and then you won't be so spread out on buying the car, and you can have more flexibility for mods and such.

Why did that sentence come out so dirty?

Don't forget this is nearly a year from now...and besides, I can live without the moonroof and Bose.

check out www.kbb.com, look for retail and private party values of a loaded 1999 Maxima. Thats how much a 2000 model will run in a year. As older people are telling you, $8,000 for a fully loaded Max with under 100K forget about it. You may have a better chance in 2 years. But how come you are looking for a car at 15 if you can get your license earliest at 16?

IMO a maxima (esp a 5th gen) is too nice a car to start out with...get urself a beater, like a 95 civic or accord and start with that....get urself used to driving, gain some experience, bang the beater up and move on in a year or so....
