I don't quite understand your question? Do you need help wiring the switch or ideas where to put it? Is it a WOT switch or regular switch?

OK. The org has been great for me, so I will lend a hand when I can.

The drop resistor, is just unplugging it, right? This creates an open circuit. To do the same with a dash or WOT switch, cut back an inch and a half or so of the tubing covering the brown and white wire that goes to the plug.
Cut either wire (it does not matter, you are just opening the circuit).
Dont cut too close to the plug 3/4 back from it would do fine.
Take the two wires from your switch and connect one to each side of the cut wire.
I like to use uninsulated but splice crimps (looks like 18-22 GA) and shrink tubing.

Now help me. What does the posted reply above mine mean?

And if you are asking where to put it, above the fuse box cover on the left side of the dash, there are 2 switch covers. To drill a hole in one of those would be cheap to replace later. I suppose the actual cover for the fuse compartment would be ok too.

Well thanks for the replies, but I already know how to set it up. Allow me to clarify--how do I install the switch in my dash (its a lighted SPST switch), as detailed as possible. (I know how to set up the switch, but i want it mounted on my dash, below my guage lights control, next to the side view mirror adjuster, or anywhere else you might know how to do it easier.)

Allow me to reiterate--I know how to splice and connect the wires, I know how to run them from the engine bay to the drivers side floor--I need to know how to put the actual switch that I flip (or in this case, push) in my dash.

If you don't have all options on your max you should have some blank switch fill-ins on the dash right beneath/behind the indicator stalk.

They pop out easily and if you get a standard rocker switch as opposed to a toggle switch it is the proper size so will fit prefectly. Or u can just drill a hole in the blank if u have a toggle type.

hope that helps

The blanks pop out easily. You can fit your finger thru gap by the fusebox and push it out from behind. You can also use a screwdriver and carefully ease it under the short side of the rectangle and pry it out.

After that run the wires thru from underneath the dash, out thru the hole connect it and the switch should pop back in the blanks place.

Thanks man--real quick--I'm using 22-gaugem Solid, 80 degrees Celsius, 1/64" PVC wire rated 300 volts from RadioShack. They call it "Hook-Up Wire." Is that OK?

Also, I don't need any special connectors or anything to connect the wire to the switch do I? I just basically tied the exposed wire to the prongs and electrical taped it for security.

The rocker switch I got is a lighted automotive SPST switch--it has three prongs on the back--two silver and one gold. I connected the wires to the two silver ones, assuming this was the correct way. Is it? What's the third prong for?

The three prongs in SPST switch work like this. Call the end prong A, the middle prong B and the other end C. In one postion A is attached to B. If you rock the switch to the other side it connects B to C. It's all relative to labeling and orientation, so I can't tell you exactly which side the rocker will be on when it closes A to B or B to C.

Stranded wire would be better and you could re-use the same gauge that is used on the drop resistor. They sell crimp connectors that slide onto the switch.

Click the link above to see more on how it should be wired. It needs to be wired NC (normally closed) so that when you rock it, the circuit will be open.

But will this set-up work for now? I'll eventually get the connectors, but I REALLY don't want to replace the wire--so if this will work, I'm keeping it. If it's hazardous, let me know and I'll replace it.

Personally, I think this is very dangerous. Purely speculatory, but the connector could lose contact just as the tranny is about to crossover on a downshift. The contact losing connection would break the circuit and send the tranny full line pressure.

This is very similar to a nuetral drop, not pretty at all. A possible bye-bye situation for our bulletproof tranny.

I cannot be held responsible for any of this. You were warned. Do it right. You should look into a real WOT switch so the correlation of being on (open circuit) only at WOT is not left to you remembering to switch it on and off.
