Pics of AE light on 2k3 max + new annoyance...

after having this happen to me 3 times..

i gave up and got AE lights installed and this is what it looks like now...

I think non-AE lights would look better with silver max

****ty close-up gap

gap from above (notice bumper knicks from thief)

last one....

i think it personally looks TERRIBLE. you cant notice the gap from far away, but once you look at the front and walk towards it, it is noticable.... i think non-AE lights would have been better choice, but oh well.... at least now i can see and drive, but i REALLY miss my HIDs (in a box in my house) and i actually get mad when i see other maximas in northern NJ with HIDs....

Annoyance = to make me more mad i noticed some black plastic cover piece is now hanging from the undercarriage on the passenger side.... cant wait to see what nissan service has to say about this on Saturday.

it looks lik on the right side when they stole the hid they didnt get the bulb. if they didnt get the bulb that means they didnt get the ballast etc. ? Sorry for a stupid question but i have a 2k and dont have hids so i was just wondering if they stole the headlight without the bulb, doesnt that mean they dont have the hid part?

The gap is not that noticable to others, although it would bother me as well. When I see 2k2-3s with the older headlights I really don't notice the gap unless I look for it. If it really bothers you, why don't you ask your body shop to make you something like a lower eyelid to cover the gap?

they are halogens....

it does bother me, but at the same time, i really dont care to be bothered with it any more... the fact that the body shop knows me by first name is quite sad....

that confirms it. I am keeping my HIDs

The AE looks good on darker 2k2/2k3's because you can't see the gap! I also have a sterling mist and if I ever get that...I first will figure out how to cover that up..like someone mentioned--a lower eyelid

That's NOT good! Water, bugs, debris, etc. is going to end up in there. Water would NOT be good.

I know you're going to HATE me for saying it, but I'd either put the 2K2s back or get a 2K-2K1 bumper. Fog lights will have to be changed also.

if there is that much gap, do you have do to anything special when a 00-01 changes to the 02-03 headlights?

the lights are obvious sealed and the wiring is nicely tucked away and i'm not worried about water getting in since it would get in through the grill anyway...

i have no inclination to deal with 01 bumper + fogs....

yeah cheapest route would be a lower eyelid of some sort---Maybe even a rubber strip? but then again, the rubber strip would be a dark color not matching the car but at least it will be a bit more weather proof than nothing at all.

Hmm..I wonder how the other 2k2 guys got away with this...well the ones I saw had darker cars so the gap looks less noticeable even from up close.

On the bright side though, the AE headlights look good with our 2k2/2k3 grille! matches fine except that damn gap

There's a big hole right behind the headlights. Water will get through and all over the inside of the engine bay. I'd just be concerned about rust and muck getting all over around the battery.

Water doesn't get past the radiator/shroud through the grille.

what I don't get is how there is a gap with 00-01 lights on a 2k2 bumper, but 2k2 lights fit well on 00-01 bumpers???

I am guessing it's a snug fit??

Yes...it touches and slightly protrudes forward.

I believe that's why my headlights wiggle so much over bumps and I intend to go with a 2K2+ bumper someday.

I did the same but my bodyshop put a rubber strip to fill in th gap at the bottom of the light. There is still a slight gap on the inside corners though but not really noticable since my car is black. It sucks to have to do this but I can't keep replacing the HIDS and now I can relax a little whenever I park somewhere. Will get some pics up as soon as I get a cam.

Its sad that you guys up their cant enjoy your HID's on your car and have to "regress" to halogens to stay away from being vandalized.

Out of curiousity did you buy mounting clips for 2k/2k1 assembles or did you just get more 2k2/2k3 ones?
