I use Bendix brake pads.

Bendix Import Quiet (MKD430IQ) for the fronts and regular (D540) for the rears. Import Quiet rear pads for our cars are currently in the research phase according to Bendix. Bendix's marketing department even answers email questions that you send them within a few days!

Nice, quiet pads. Not too expensive at all. I'm not sure if they have applications for '02/'03 5th gens, though, but you have an '01 so it shouldn't be a problem.

Peace.

IMO, Bendix rotors are a good alternative to Brembo blanks for stock type replacement. They are made from a better North American steel similar to Brembo blanks that is far superior to the warped prone Asian junk that is OEM for Nissan. I used them on my '99 Max SE with absolutely no issues over 30K miles of driving.
