Removing Front Seats - AirBag Connector

Somehow my other post didn't get posted. So here it is:

Going to do some noise control tomorrow and I need some guidance in regards to removing the front seats since they have some airbag connector/sensor. This is what I think I should do. Comments are welcomed:

Before removing seats, disconnect battery, pull Airbag fuses, uplug airbag connectors under seats.

After completion of work, put seats back, plug airbag connector, put fuses back, connect battery.

Also, just in case I get the Airbag light after all this, how do I reset it without having to take it to the dealer?

Thanks,

Pedro

Good question... I wish I found out that answer before I pulled my front seats when I installed dynamat. That damn blinking light is driving me insane!!! Is there a way to reset it without going to the dealer? I tried unplugging the battery. OH well I'm intrested in this too.

Finally found something using the search . Last night the search function was kicking you out. Two different procedures. Let me know which one works.

If your airbag light is on (or flashing)... try this.
By the way, use a stopwatch to count.... the timing must be accurate in order for it to work.

Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button, a button which is
pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door
Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 7-12 times within 7
seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF.
Close the driver's door. Start the engine. (It varies from 7 -15 times on pressing the DDS)

-----------------------(2002-2003?)-------------------
1) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
2) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
3) Wait 4 seconds
4) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
5) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
6) Wait 4 seconds
7) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
8) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
9) Wait 4 seconds
10) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
11) Wait 3 seconds
12) Turn IGNITION off
13) Wait 2 seconds
14) START Car (the light may be blinking slower than before)
15) Wait 3 seconds
16) Turn IGNITION off
17) Wait 3 seconds
18) START Car

For 2k2, you don't have to do jack. I pulled my seats out many times, just disconnect it and then reconnect when u are done. That's only a sensor for your seatbelt, so it knows not to activate airbag if you don't have your seatbelt on. If you unplug the seat, then it will simply think you never have your seatbelt on. No problems.

Note this is only for 2k2. 2k0-2k1 might be different.

So you are saying. Just unplug them without disconnecting the battery, plug them back and you should be fine on a 2K2.

That's what I did. Although, I don't have side airbags... that could be different. Do you? Well, then let me put it this way: just unplug it without diconnecting the battery, plug them back in and you should be fine if you have a 2k2 without side airbags.

So you only have one plug under your seats? Well if you have power seats then you have just 2? I'm pretty sure there is still a sensor hooked to your seats, side airbags or not. Pedro just try it see what happens, hehe.

Great. Don't have side airbags. So only two connectors under front seat (sensor, power seat), one connector under passenger (sensor). Ready to do my project tomorrow. Thanks.
