optima battery

I was wondering who all on the org. has an optima battery, and which one dose everyone have (red top or the yellowtop)? If you have it are you using your stock altenator? I have a banging system and don't want to be left calling AAA this winter to come give me a jump. Would anyone recommend getting one, if so which one? I was doing research and it looks like the Red Top 34 or the YellowTop D34/78 or D34 would be the best choise, I just want to hear from everyone.

I was looking on that site and I didn't see any optima yellow tops with that model number. Am I missing something?

I got one from circuit city two days ago, they told me the red one has more cranking power.!!!! So I got the red one.!!!!!

My red one pumps out 980 and yellow is like 870 or 900(cranking power).

Also you should look the real small one with 670, you don't want that one!!!!!!!!!!

The yellow one is a deep cycle, mostly for people who have high powered amps. The red one is more for people who just want more power for starting.

The yellow top could be charged over and over again and would not really damage the battery.

The blue top is for marine use. The red top is better than the blue.

So if I get the Yellow Top D34/78 will it be an exact fit for a 02 Maxima? or will I have to change some things up too make it fit.

it fits fine...but the battery tie down threads aren't enough. since our tie downs curve downwards, and the battery is shorter, the nut never tigtens them. 2 things to do.

1) get a straight mount battery tie down (e.g.stillen)

2) get a tie down thread that passes our stock threads.

in general, you can mount the battery w/out the tie down. it is NOT going anywhere. took snug of a fit to even move. plus we have this thing called a hood that prevents it from popping out.

as i posted in the group deals forum, here's a picture of mine.

I have a yellow top in my car. Only thing is that the positive terminal on our cars wont reach the top post because of the fuse so I had to modify my terminal a bit by fabricating a small metal plate to extend the terminal. Heres a pic of mine:
