Question to all of you MAXIMA owners! Need your oppinions ASAP!

Hey guys!
I'm almost a Maxima owner.. almost because I'm in process buying one. I think I've found a car that I like, 2000 Maxima SE with 5-speed. It has a little over 72Kmiles and feels strong but only one thing bothers me. It seems to me that it's too loud and noisy when you drive on Highway speeds. Itsn't engine/transmission sound, but I didn't have chance to compare many cars.. duno know what to do.

The car has brand new Continental directed tires on it which seem to be too STIFF. I think this might be the reason of all noises. Did anyone had any bad/good experience with those? What can you tell? Please advice! I want to purchase that car tommorow (Thursday the 30th!)...

PLEASE!

The car is listed for $11'995

The car is listed for $11'995 + fees (Which I think is competetive?). I hope to get at $11'500 + fees.

72K! that little too much for buying a used car. $11'995 also is just little bit expensive. You could differenly get lower than that.

A 2000 SE 5-spd in the 95192 Zip Code with 72k miles, per the Kelly Blue Book webpage should go for $10,740. Not knowing the equipment included on this car, I used the standard options.

depending on options/condition/seller price dont strike me as being anything out of the ordinary. as far as mileage.. see my sig so no fear there.

yes the max lacks sound proofing and is generally louder than some other cars.. partially it has to do with the windows and then general suspension design. i have michelins and do not find it overly noisy. so if you are having a really loud noise, could very well be the tires.

what i would do is, run to a major dealership real quick and take a similar maxima for a spin. and heck, take out some other cars while at it. its about 30 minutes per ride so you can get impressions then test the 2000 you want to get one last time.
