Suspension Opinions
Good Morning Fellas,
I'm new here so don't flame me when I post something that has probably been posted to death. I just threw a set of 18" rims (Murano wheels) with those cheapy 225/40 ZR18 Kumho or Kuhmo (whatever) tires on my 2000 Max SE. They replaced the 16" five stars that came stock that year. I now have a gap just large enough to bug the heck out of me. I refuse to sacrifice my ride quality when lowering being that I drive almost 1000 miles a week. What do you guys suggest to get rid of that small gap yet retain the stock SE ride quality?

There is no way you canlessen the wheel gap without some type of spring or Ground Control. Then you most likely will not have the stock ride quality. If you dont wan't lowering springs your only real option is a larger tire.

Get cattman coilovers or some other type of coilovers. You can slam your car and it still will have very close to stock ride quality. Of course your gonna pay for it
But its well worth it IMO.

There is the first problem you need to resolve. If you put a tire on your car with a smaller diameter than stock you are going to have a bigger gap.
Answer:
A. Get 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 tires. This will also make for a better ride as well as save your rims from bending.
B. If you lower your car with springs make sure to also get shocks. A Maxspeed/KYB GR2 combo will cost you under $400 out the door.
Don't modify your car to make for a poor ride or even worse handling. Get shock with springs, and the correct size tires.

Couple them up with Tokico Blue struts up front and KYB GR2 rear shocks. Your car will ride very smooth, I guarantee that!
If your in N.J. come down to my shop and I'll let you test drive a similar setup and give you a sweet deal on the installation of your new suspension setup.
