2k2-2k3 compass mirror

I have a question concerning the rearview mirror. Obviously, search is out of the question.

I have a 2k3 non-TE SE. I have the autodimming rearview mirror, but it does not have the compass. I was wanting to change it out for the mirror with the compass in it.

(1) Has anyone done this?
(2) Is it a direct swap? (no need to tap any wires because auto dimming already has power right?)

I just wasn't sure if the compass feature required any additional hookups. I really appreciate your responses. Thanks.

IMO, the compass is useless. If you are lost enough to need one, then go buy a map. Seriously though, I have one and all it does is distract me at night. I find myself turning it off all the time. I wish once you turned it off. Every time you turn off the car and turn it back on, the darn compass is back.

I want the compass too. If you know which way you should be going, hard for some people, then it will tell you if your lost or going in the wrong direction.

Thanks for your response. I just think it would be cool to have if it's just as easy as swapping mirrors and hooking them up without any modification. I have not checked on the price yet because I wanted to see if anyone has done it or knows it can be done easily. If the price is not to expensive, then I really want to do the swap.

If anyone else has any info, I would appreciate it. Thanks
