Quick question about pricing, please give your input

Guys, looking at a 2000 GLE with 32K miles. Loaded, heated seats, moonroof, black leather, no spoiler, CD, fogs, etc. Clean outside (few minor scuffs up front) and in. I can buy for $15K.
What do you think the price should be, or what did you pay for yours?
Car is going to an auction tomorrow, so I don't have much time...help, please!

not a bad price... if you can afford it and it's the car you want, it'd be a good get.

kbb says it should be worth about $17k but they're always high.

BUT, what do you mean "going to an auction" ? Are you being pressured by a salesman into buying TODAY because the car will be gone TOMORROW? If a salesman told me that I'd kick him in the nutz and walk out (well, not really, but I'd walk out).

If that's not the deal then ignore this, but if it is I'd go back and tell him you want him to throw in an extended warranty just for trying that hi-pressure sales **** on you.

It does come with limited warranty, I don't know the details of it yet though.
The dealer is having an auction tomorrow and this car will be a part of it.

Thank you guys for your help, but I am a little surprised at your responses. I thought this price was average at best. There are better deals for the money on e-bay that I found for thay year Max.

Regarding the KBB and Edmunds. I don't see how you can go by those. It lists my '98 Max with the high mileage that it has for between $8,600 (private) and 9,500 (dealer) and I only paid $6,400 for it.

YEs its very average. Who can go to the auction? Maybe show up and buy it for much less money. 2002 SEs are selling for $16-18,000 so for a car 2 years older it should be much cheaper.

Exactly my thoughts. And the 2K2s have the 3.5 engine. I thought a good price for 2000 model with around 30K miles: GXE would be about $10-12K, SE and GLE for $12-14
I am considering all sources of purchases: dealers, private and even e-bay.

Sounds high.

I just heard of a 2001 AE 5spd with 20K miles go for $18K OTD, so that's what $16,xxx before taxes.

$15gz sounds decent, especially with the mileage. but if you don't feel right about it then don't buy it. The only way I would buy a car off ebay would be if I saw the car first, and besides it's not a market/price determinant.

Too high for my tastes. I just bought my 2k2 a little over 3 months ago. Its an SE w/ everything but leather and Navi and it only had 23k on it at the time. I paid just over $16,000 with an 100k warrenty. I'd say shop around thats way to much for a 2000. I mean the miles are right, and if the car is in REALLY good condition I'd pay 14 MAX.

Private is usaully much cheaper than dealers. I bought my 2002 6 speed for $17.5 about 9 months ago. It was a fair deal and the car was completely babied and perfect-private sale. The 3.5 is a very nice engine but if its price you want try and find a 2000 SE or something like that and you'll know that $15 price down by thousands. Really any of the late model Maximas are reilable and fun to drive.
