Auto headlights

Well I've had my 2K maxima for about a month now and absolutely
love the car! Noticing though that it has to be quite dark before
my headlights come on if set on auto. My Chev's lights come
on much sooner. I've turned on the lights maually cause it's
almost too dark otherwise before the auto feature seems to work.
Anyone else experience this and if so can anything be done?
Thanks for the info,
Mark

personally, i just turn mine to the "on" position and let them stay on all the time. they WILL automatically go off when you turn off the engine - so no worry about forgetting that they are on.

I had a '99 Alero previous to my Maxima that had auto lights and i absolutely hated them. It always seemed like they came on too early in the evening, when maybe normally I'd just have my parking lights on. And what REALLY ticked me off, is there is NO way to override that! Either the lights were on or off, the car decided both. I don't even know why GM bothered to put a light switch on it, other than for ppl who drive with their headlights on during the day..... but it already had DRL's so I dunno.... I absolutely hated that though...
I really like the setup on the Max better, even though it still has auto, it's overrideable. I normally just turn the lights on whenever I want them on, have not tested the darkness they need to turn on.

On a 2k3 (and presumably a 2k) you can get the dealer to change the settings for the auto lights. The settings include "sooner than factory" which switches them on when it's "less dark".

First off.... stop and read the time/date of the thread before you post on it. You'll notice that this thread has been inactive for 4+ years.

Second. ... You can probably change the stalk and all will be well but you'd still need the sensor and the module that will make it automatic.
