I have an 02 with 25K on it. Brake pedel shutters when stopping. My guess ROTORS.
I know the 00s have a TSB out. I haven't seen anything on the 02-03s.. Should I bother taking it to Nissan and see if they do them? or should I get them replaced with something else somewhere else.

I only want Nissan to do it if I don't have to pay. And I don't really want to waste the trip there. (it takes a while to get an appt and a PITA to get it there)

Opinions?

 

My dealer said they it would be covered at less than 15K miles. I am going with aftermarket Power slot rotors. The stock have a hard enough time to start with. If I turned them, it would be much easier for them to warp.

 

There's a Group Deal on Powerslot rotors going on right now. I just ordered mine today.

 

question, if you change your pads, drive for say 3k miles, but it still shakes,so you assume and replace rotors...do you have to change the pads again as well...i'm assuming the pads have now conformed to the shape of the old rotors and it's warpedness, so the pads would be "off"....

or can ijust buy new rotors and pop them suckers on and the pads would eventually shape out to these new rotors...

 

The instructions that came with the PowerSlots state that new pads should be used with the rotors.

 

I have 25k on my '02. I just had the pads and rotors replaced. I was concerned that the shop was taken advantage of me. I couldn't believe rotors would wear out so soon. I guess maybe it is true since other owners have also replaced at such a low mileage.

Has most people replaced front rotors at 25K miles?

IMHO, new pads should ALWAYS be used with new rotors...

Get the Hawk pads...

 

Actually, they don't "wear out" they warp and are quite prone to warping. Nothing to do with age.

If you can get Nissan to replace a set of warped rotors at 25k I would be genuinely impressed.

If you want to replace them with the best available, that will not be nearly as prone to warping, go with the Brembo rotors with AUTHENTIC Brembo machining, either drilled or slotted. Most Brembo rotors that you see for sale are their generic blanks that have been drilled or slotted by companies that totally lack Brembo's machining knowledge and technologies -- meaning that they haven't been enhanced, they've been ruined and are an accident waiting to happen. These are the real thing, direct from Brembo.

As one might expect, the best are not the cheapest, but of anything you are going to buy for the car, do you really want to scrimp on brakes? The front pair is $199 and the rears are $227.

I have 19K miles and i need them so bad (I ordered powerslot for $165)... my problem started from ~15k miles...

 

Where did you purchase your powerslots from? What pads are you planning to use?
