2000 Maxima AIrflow meter/Throttle body Issues

I was wondering if any oen else has had problems with the airflow meter or throttlebody causing their car to run bad. I took my car to the dealer to have the checke engine light looked at and they told me the airflow meter was bad, so they also cleaned the throttlebody..now it runs worse since i took it in..I didn';t have nay issue the light just came on while i was driving it... any suggestions on trying to clear it up, or any one with a similar problem..?

If the airflow meter aka MAF (Mass AirFlow meter) is bad, your dealer should have done the following:

1) Installed a new MAF sensor+MAF assembly or
2) Installed a new MAF sensor

Since your dealer didn't so neither, the problem will not fix itself.

if your maf is bad then you need to order a new one and you will pay alot less getting it through dave b. chances are the maf was on its way out which triggered the cel and now its shot. cleaning the throttle body would not affect the maf unless you sprayed it with it intake cleaner or if you did not tighten up the clamps on the intake. if the code indicated the maf was bad and there were no leaks already then you need to replace it. dave b contact info is up in the faq.

If they sprayed cleaner into the edges of the throttle plate, there's a slight possibility that they ruined the Throttle Position Sensor... if that's the case, it'd require replacement of the whole throttle body (the sensor's supposedly riveted on).

If they didn't replace the air flow meter, you might possibly get by merely by cleaning it... remove the MAF tube and very gently spray some Air Intake/Throttle Body cleaner through the metal screen onto the MAF wire... do it very thoroughly and let it dry completely.

2K Maxima Throttle Body/Airlfow meter Issues

Where is the air flow meter located in side the air box? Also the car never ran like it runs now even when the check enginelight came on... the funny part is the dealer reset the light and it hasn't come on since, but now it runs worse and they said they cleaned the throttle body but i don't see any indication that they did.. how do i tell which is bad the airflow meter or the throttle position sensor...have someone hook it up to a machine again?
If it is bad then who is the dave b person that can get me a good deal on the airflowmeter..HOw do i contact him?

Thanks for the help.
