Eibach Pro Kits vs. H&R

Many of you pan the Eibachs which are on sale now from Stillen for $200. Is it worth the $200 or are they just too harsh? My initial thoughts were to go with the H&R's as I've heard they most resemble stock ride quality which is what I'm attempting to maintain as best as can be. Thanks.

Thanks for the info 2k2nyc. I assume when you write 'a better car', you mean the ride was less harsh?

Are you happy with the cornering and handling?

Lastly, where did u buy your H&R's from? I've checked Adventon, Pro - something or other, etc. and can't find the OEM H&R's? Thanks.

oop, I meant a "better ride." Eibachs handled a lot better than the H&Rs but it was worth the comprimise. Don't get me wrong, the H&Rs handle much better than stock but not as good as the eibachs. If I remeber correctly, I ordered mine from adventon.com. There is only one kind of H&R for our cars, so I'm not sure what you mean by OEM H&Rs.

I believe the H&R's come in OEM, Sport and Race....anybody know what I'm referring to?

I have had Eibachs and KYB-GR2's on my car for almost two months now. I don't think that the ride is harsh at all, and this is coming from someone who had the GLE suspension before the switch. I was affraid that the ride would be too harsh, that's why I went the KYB shocks (I heard that they were softer than Toks and definatley softer than Konis). Anyway, in my opinion the ride with this combo is great, I love it. Yes, the ride is more stiff than stock, but not too stiff. The car is much more stable in turns and has a much sportier feel. Sorry, but I haven't taken any recent pics.

You're right about this, but they make only one kind for our Maxima.

Eibachs is cheaper than H&R but I think H&R is better.

I totally agree.

I've got the KYB-GR2/Eibach setup on mine and I love it. Handles great/looks great.

Definitely not too harsh of a ride either. That was a concern since my a$$ isn't as young as it used to be, but i couldn't be happier with the results.

I liked the eibachs also, but it felt like my dash was going to fall off every time I hit a big bump. My main concern was that I didn't want my car creaking and squeaking like a rattle box.

Eibach Pro Kits vs H&R

I've got the Eibach set up and Koni's on right now and after 4 days I want to go back to my original springs. Ride is way to harsh but I know I have a stiff set up with the Koni's even on the softest setting. I'm thinking about H&R's now and KYB GR2's.

I've been waiting to see what shocks people are recommending and it seems that the KYB-GR2's are the way to go. I already purchased the H&R springs and now I'm trying to decide which shocks to get. Is there anyone who had the GR2's that didn't like them?

I've had the pleasure of owning both. Eibach handles better but is much rougher. H&R is not as stiff but you feel more body roll when cornering. And by the way, i got my Eibachs for $165 shipped a couple of years ago at carparts.com dont know why the prices went up

OK, so would you know the part number? I'm assuming that the one set H&R makes for our car drops it approximately 1" all the way around, sound right?

The drop is something like 1.4" front and 1.3" rear. Part #: 53060..1 @ http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...p?subcat_id=63

Add another to the list for Eibach/GR-2 combo. Had them one for a year now and think its a really good package. Good drop without going too low, no settling or sag, and the springs are consistent from one car to the next. At 47 I'm one of the older guys that has modded the car a lot, and did not want springs that would beat me to death, but I also wanted the car to look like it was really dropped.

Inches (front/back)
Eibach 1.3, 1.0 (stiff)
H&R 1.4, 1.3 (near stock)
Progress 1.7, 1.5 (near stock)
Intrax 1.75 all around
Sprint 2.0 all around (stiff)
B&G 1.6, 1.6
Ground Controls adjustable (very stiff)
MaxSpeed 1.7, 1.4 (near stock)

You'll be amazed at what you find if you SEARCH. I got my H&Rs from tirerack.com. You don't need to know a part number, you just need to know what kind of car you have.

i think it's 2.0" in the rear

I personally did not get H&R springs because they barely lower the car. All the pictures I've seen of the drop look very close to stock. Many org members have switched just because of this. If you want a better ride that isn't as stiff as Eibach go with Maxspeed. People may wonder about the ride because they are so cheap, but as many many other members will agree that the ride is very comfortable and the drop is great.

If Eibach is good enough for companies to go to them from spring for earth quake proof buildings to ball point pens. They're good enough for me.

While we are on the subject, is there any need to get the alignment kit if you get the H&R/KYBgr2 combo?

It's also been discussed TONS before that Eibach's published numbers are conservative. My (and most others) actual drop was 1.75 front and 1.0 rear.

Eibach Pro Kits vs H&R

Forget what I said yesterday. I got rid of the rear sway bar and now the car rides A LOT better with the Eibach and Koni set up that I have. A little stiffer but handles like a pure sports car.
