2000 Maxima chugging

My wife's 2000 Maxima with 28000 miles has an intermitant problem. From time to time the car seems to be firing on less than all 6 cylinders. It is pretty bad when it happens. It can stall, or just give you that "Urban Cowboy" ride, YeeHaw! Kind of bucking. Short of tightening the saddle, what is the verdict on this one? I thought injector at first, and then read that there is a problem with the coils on these 6's. Fuel filter? If it is a coil or coils, is there a "home remedy" to find the bad ones? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jarvis

Your best bet is to replace all 6. If one of them has already gone bad and they are of the same batch, it's only a matter of time b4 the rest goes bad too.

You might want to try putting the cheapest fuel injection cleaning fluid. I have had several people tell me this with other cars and it usually helps. Buy the cheapest stuff b/c it is the most efficient.

I thought I had an injector problem, did the cleaner thing. Nope, then thought it may be the direct ignition coils, dealer said nope, it's my mass air flow sensor.

Both the coils and MAFs are problematic.

How do we know if we're getting the newer and improved coils from Nissan (part #)?...or does anyone have a recommendation for aftermarket (non-Nissan) coils?
