H4 headlight bulb question
hey when im buying headlight bulbs which will give me a bright light...wattage?? or kelvin read out?? i read in another thread that the higher the kelvin number the worse it gets in the rain......right now i have piaa super plasma for headlights and fog, and are planning to change to piaa xtreme for both, which have a higher wattage but lower kelvin number...which do you guys have and which do you think is better?? thanks
I have regular P/N 9003 headlight bulbs and they fulfil their purpose perfectly - I am not looking for anything better.
On a general note, if you have brighter headlights, you get brighter reflection from rain drops or fog, which could partially blind you, and thus, reduce your own safety.

PIAAs. Hear good things about Sylvanias though.
Xtremes will produce more lumens, ie what makes you see better, then Plasma. Plasma loose lumens due to more aggressive coatings, which filter/block more light.
I've had H4 Super Whites and never had a problem seeing in the rain, however OEM yellow light is more visible to the human eye then white/blue light under most conditions. The H4 housing on our cars were the best I'd ever drove with UNTIL I got the 2K2 HIDs. No comparison on how well they light up the road though.
If you're seriously looking for more light, HIDs are the best option. If you can't afford/find those, then go with some QUALITY auxillary lights for $100-$200.
Upgrading to more efficient or higher wattage H4s will only minimally help IMO. Wasn't drastic enough for me, but HIDs sure were.
