2k2 owners with 6 disc in dash changer.....PLEASE READ

Ok I am a mission to solve the problem with our freaking radios. Mine will be going back for the 3rd time in 4 months. 1st time the cd player would cut out, second time the left speakers wouldn't work. Now the "new" unit is back to cutting out. So here is what I need help on. Go to you car and look on the tape deck flap, there will be a number in the bottom right corner. Mine is CR070. this is the one that is cutting out. I want to say that my last radio was either CP or CS but I can't remember. So if everyone could go look at this number, then post it, then list if there are any current problems with the radio. And if you just so happen to know the number of the old radio then post that too along with its defect.

CP(or CS)070- Left side speakers cut out
CR070-Cd player cuts out.

I have CR070 with no problems at all. I don't know what I had before, but the speakers cut in and out on the left side, so it was replaced. All good now.

I have the CR070 and started getting the left-side cut-out just last week (dealer has ordered replacement). First audio problem since I got the car in Mar. 2002.

What's the diffence between the CR070 and CR260? Is the latter an improved model that came with the 2k3?

I don't know. My car was made in July '02 and I've read on here somewhere that the "corrected" units are December '02 and later. Hmmmm

I've had the deck replaced once. Lately there's been a couple times where sound cuts out on the right side, when I hit a big bump on the freeway. Anybody else have that happen?

2K3 GLE... On my second radio... CR070. I don't know what the first one was. It had the left channel cutting out problem. This one is working fine, but I have had the CD skip about three or four times for no real reason, car was stationary and the disk was not dirty. Anyway, this one is about five months old... we'll see how it goes.

That is what I am trying to fiqure out. It sounds like to me that the CR070 is from the older cars, and the CR260 is from the new cars. I am also assuming that since no one has said that their CR260 has messed up that that one is the true corrected model. Not just a rebuilt CR070 which is what has happened to me several times.

If the manufacturing date on the unit is December 2002 or later, then your unit is ok. The model numbers change based upon TE vs. non-TE, as well as the internal CD loader mechanism. The older units are being fixed and set out as warranty replacements.

I've post the link to the thread in the Audio forum FAQ that discusses my involvement and research in this problem.

I have a CR070. I have no problems with any sides of my audio cutting out but the CD will skip when I've just started my car.

I got a '02 se. I already had the HU replaced, but now its acting up again. I have a cr070 in there now... but i will ask to have a cr260 put in this time to see if it works better.
(I heard before when they replace the units, they just put in refurbished ones...)

I'm not sure of the number on my head unit, but I'm on my second, and going tomorrow to get them to order me a third.

I had the problem with the left side speakers not operating properly when playing CDs. They swapped the radio out no problem for that. Also previously had skipping issues when it was cold.

New unit worked great, full sound, no skipping...Then it started making weird noises when playing CDs about a week after I got it. Then last weekend I took out all my CDs (was playing fine) so I could swap what I had in the car with ones in my house. Monday morning I go to start driving to work and pop in a CD, and it just made a click-click sound 5 times, then gave an error and spit the CD out. Tried it with multiple CDs in different slots, and same thing happens every time. So my CD changer completely DIED!

I'm hoping my next unit works right...

CD ERR F3? that is the error my 3rd headunit is giving me now. this one is a CR070, im not sure what the last 2 were. im assuming they were also CR070s b/c each time nissan ordered a new one they went to see which model # i needed. so im guessing they have all been the same.

Does anybody wonder why the dealers don't stock these things. Why do they have to keep ordering them for us? I bet the answer has something to do with the source of the replacements. Anybody know where they are coming from?

I have an '02 with the cr070. I'm on my 3rd radio. The cutting out problem is resolved with the current radio but they have all had a skipping problem. It doesn't matter if the car is moving or not, hot or cold outside, whatever, the cd can skip. It can go for a while without skipping and then for no reason it starts skipping. Sometimes the cd will skip and the sound will come back but the display is stuck at the point of the skip. Really annoying problem....

Mine has been cutting out on the driver's side (which I call the left). I'm waiting for a replacement radio (got ordered last week). This will be my 3rd radio (replaced once already). Ironically I had them replace the driver's side tweeter several weaks ago because I thought that was the problem. Now I realize its really the CD player (which is all I ever listen to). Jarring the car a lot solves the problem temporarily (sometimes changing discs will work as well).

Hope this helps. I'm out of the country so I can't answer the question about the number on the plate yet.

I finally checked. I have the CR070. It is my 2nd Bose in-dash 6cd deck, and it is a refurbished one. If any of you pull out your replacement deck, check the back, and I bet it's a refurb too...

FYI
The Bose head units are made by Clarion. My 2k3 TI SE CR260 skipped, especially when cold. The dealer replaced it and it has been fine so far for the last 8 months.

Mine is a CR260. My cds do skip when its cold (like 35 degrees or lower) but I just warm them in my hands for a few seconds and they play fine.

Mine is a CR260 and I just brought it in to have it replaced. The left side went out and the CD skips. If I hit a bump or something...the speaker will come back on

CR070 replaced my HD not too long ago, for the left side cutting in and out, and CD player skipping when cold.

I'm a little reluctant to get the HU replaced, I'm starting to lean towards leaving this one in rather than getting it replace, only to have more problems...

I too am on my third unit. My original read cd err from what I remember. Then when I picked the car up, it didn't play at all. I was so ****ed, I yelled at the service guys. I asked them why they don't check their work. Especially when there were 5 cd's in the drink holder that they took out. They threw in a free oil change.

They had no idea what was wrong with the second one, but they put in a "new to me" deck on that saturday. This one has worked fine ever since. This was way back, about a year ago.

I must say my CD player has never skipped.
I know of older cd players that do. you may want ot get some compressed air in a can, and blast the CD slot a little. You might have dust on your pick up lense in the player. IT has worked for me with my Sony 6260 back in the day.

Its luck of the draw really. This happened to me, the dealership told me the radio is not new, but a rebuild. So if you get a ****ty rebuild one, it will continue to act up. Mine has been replaced for about 6 months now on my 2k2, no more problems.

I have 36,150 miles on my 2k2 and my C070 just crapped out on me. It wont play CD's at all when the car is cold. Even when it does warm up, it will still randomly skip. My dealer told me to bring the car in and said they will still replace under warranty.
My question is, if I have it replaced and the player acts up again say another 1,000 miles down the road, can I have it replaced again. Is this part covered under the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty?

i just recently had mine 'replaced' with the same model... CR070 i was expecting the 260... unless of course the dealer pulled a fast one on me and kept the same unit in (conspiracy talk) oh well, i'll see how long this new unit lasts before problems occur.

everytime ive gone to have my headunit replaced the dealer says that they need to "get some numbers". they go and look at what model i have in there and then order that model again. i dont think you'll get a 260 unless you ask for it. they are just gonna replace a 070 with a 070.

and SHPatel - ask them to give you something i writing that will extend your warranty on the unit. i am worried about that too. i only have 20,000 miles on my car but i am on my 4th head unit in 5 months. i have been wondering what i am going to do if this continues past my warranty period.
