Anyone on the org have a remote starter installed by Nissan?

Since winter is around the corner, I keep thinking about getting a remote starter installed. I know there are tons of aftermarkets available, but I don't want Nissan to come back at a future date and blame something on faulty wiring.

If you do have a starter installed by Nissan, how does it work? Off of your existing key FOB? Decent range? Reliable starts? I'm assuming like all the other remote starters, they need a key. Thx in advance for any insight.

There is a unit made by Viper that can work with your factory keyfob. When you hit the door lock button 2x, the car will start/turnoff.

I had this unit on my 2k. Yes, you will need a key in the car to autostart.

Nissan does not make autostarters. Some dealers might hire a contractor to install it for you or just send it to a shop to get it done.

Good luck!

In that case, has anyone got a starter installed from ATD in Middletown, CT? They seem like the shop the dealers contract out to.

the only alarm or starter that the dealers use are Automate and it made by DEL. DEL make about 90% of alarm out there inc viper, cliford etc. so doesn't make sence to back to the dealer and charged more for the exact same thing. what you need is authorized dealer that sells del product and installation to back you up. just my.02

I just called up my Nissan dealer. The service guy said that they have someone who comes in to install the remote starters, at the dealership. Price is $249, uses the existing keyfob. Service guy also said this person has done many in the past, and not one has caused problems.... They just need a key from me, which I expected. So I am signed up to get it installed 2 weeks from now.

EDIT: For the same price, I can get 2 additional key fobs that are "extended range", so I opted for that.
