squealing noise on startup
Hey guys.
I've have a 2K3 SE that is about 9 months old and has roughly 8500 kms on it (just over 5000 miles). I was out on Saturday night and when I hopped into the car and started it, the engine started smoothly but then made a squealing noise for several seconds. It sounded like a slipping belt. The sound went away and the car has run fine since.
Saturday night was the first time that the car had sat outside in cold weather (I think the temperature fell to 0C or 32F here in Toronto) since April. Does anyone have any idea what this noise could be a symptom of?
One other item that I've noticed since the car was new (and mentioned to the dealer who said it was normal) is that it has a little whistle (or whine) at idle. Not enough that anyone would really notice it, but nonetheless, a noise that I am aware of.
Any ideas?

It is probably your timing chain. I have the same problem, but when I went to the dealer they told me that they could not reproduce the problem. My car is in service right not and my friedn who works there will take care of the problem he said. I think that your timing chain needs to me adjusted.
