RIP!! Mustang GT

Just this past Sunday night, I did it to a Mustang GT 5.0 mod'd probably a 94 or something. This guy had all the guages in the world in his car. I was behind him at a light and he tried racing a sup'd up dodge pickup, funny enough without any adrenaline rush I left both of them. At the next light we were side by side I s**t on him all the way for like 5 miles until I got to my exit, he was no match, all I could hear was his loud engine behind me. Bear in mind that my launch wasn't to good b'cos my tires are kinda bad.

Maxima's are AWESOME!!

Hmm. Sounds almost impossible the way you describe it. But then what do i know about GT's?

Around here, i hear a lot of very loud Camaro's and Mustang's. But that sound is nothing compared to how they actually sound like when they go WOT.

You never know what a mustang or camaro has under the hood. If they are running dumps, they will sound like they are WOT when they are at about 1/2 throttle. 5.0 is a nice powerplant when modded and can produce a ton of horsepower and torque.

Heavily Modded (and there are tons of mods available for them), they are VERY fast cars capable of runnign 12s, 11s 10s and in rare cases 9s. With Mustangs, yuo never know what you're in for b/c of the amount of mods available. And so few of the GTs are stock anymore....

You mean 11's, 10's 9's, 8's, and in rare cases 7's and 6's.

Heavily modded 5.0L GT's can run 8's and still be street legal...nasty, nasty buggers...

Hey maybe thay can run that fast. Fastest one Ive seen that was street legal was in the 9s at 150+ in the 1/4. But no doubt they're cpapble of ridiculous times and have a good platform for drag racing.

I would say you ran a v-6 with flowmasters. and the last 5.0 stang was the 90'. when they changed the body ford also changed the engine's available. My father has a 89'. and can smoke my *** while talking on his cell phone.

I have to agree, My 94 5.0 GT will easily walk my 2k max and that’s with an auto trans and the extra weight of a drop top.

if the 5.0 is completely stock, a 2k2 should take it out nicely. the 5.0 in stock form only makes around 200 hp, 225 I believe? just beware cause there really are more mods for it than a civic! i've been owned, but i promise he wasnt listening to Bose or sitting on leather, or getting 28 mpg

A 3.5 Max should have an easy time with a week or poorly driven 5.0 especially the 94-95 GT's. Line up with one with gears, some bolt on's and a good driver and you more than likely get owened. If you must pick on a mustang go after 96-98 4.6 GT's, no low end so a Max should get a good jump off the line.

Couple things:

1. 1995 was the last year of the 5.0 in the Mustang's

2. 1987-1995 5.0's all make ~ 225hp/285tq. Ford changed it's rating system in 1994, and thats why it lost 10hp (215 vs. 225). The 94/95 GT's still dyno (190-195rwhp) nearly identical to the 87-93 however.

3. A stock 2k Maxima runs what? Mid 15's at best? Maybe a stock automatic 94 GT would run mid 15's, but even a stock 5 speed is good for high 14's and with mods they are minimum mid 14's with a halfway decent driver.

Anyways, good kill.

A current GT will smack a maxima silly but some of the older ones were lacking in power. As mentioned it is possible that this was just a V6 faked to look better

Eitherway good you won

I killed one in my 99.5 when I first got it (stock).

I talked to the guy afterward. He was very surprised (and so was I).

There are lots of posers out there (V6 mustang and camaros with dual exhaust). If you ever run into one there is nothing to worry about. The Kenny Brown V6 Mustang with $5K worth of mods still pulled a 16.8 in the quarter mile.
