went to track today

well me and a buddy of mine went to Long Island Motorsports park today. It was both of our 1st times at the track...I drive a 02 SE auto Stock kept the spare in. my Best run was a 14.635 @93.51 mphw/ a 60ft of 2.148, 1/8 mile 9.372...i got into the 14.6's only twice...the rest of the day i was running 14.7's except my first 2 runs which were in the 15's....i was very impressed...ill have the slip scanned soon.

I also beat a 02 or 03 CLs auto w/comptech intake, headers, exhaust and pullys...i beat him only cuz my reaction was quicker..but on the slip he had me by like .050 sec.. he wasnt too happy...haha

Nice times. Be certain to post this info in the timeslip forums. Question: Did you make your runs on the stock RE92s??

If your 02 is bone stock, that would pretty much put you in the top 2 or top 3 quickest stock VQ35 Maximas in this forum. Good stuff man !

How was the weather ? Had they just gummied up the track prior to your run ? What were your other 60' ?

2.148 60 '

If I would have gotten a 2.148 like you, on my pb e.t., perhaps my pb e.t. might be closer to high 14.50 / low 14.60's.

Keep up the good work

P.S. Ferbs owns the server today, heh, I saved this msg prior to submitting, so when it said server busy, the msg was not lost.

Thanks guys....Ferbs> it was my 4th run when i hit those times...and yeah they pretty much just gummied the track...cuz i couldnt get into the 14.6's after that the rest of the day was in the 14.7's...my other 60' time when i hit 14.672 was 2.167..then the rest of the day i was in the 2.2's.

Darth vader> my times against the cl-s(with all those mods he had(posted above)
i ran a 14.724 1/4, 2.264 60' and the cl-s ran 14.678 1/4 and 2.206 60'....he had a nice 60' i think that was one of his best runs..i wasnt impressed w/it considering it had all those mods.

Also this guy w/a 02 auto gle w/injen CAI..couldnt beat my times...its almost as if he lost power with the intake..????..he also said his buddy had a exhaust and he lost power...so i dont know if i should do any mods..if so...which ones actually improve my track times???

You got the traction down pat, so the mod you should go for is the cattman y and b pipe combo. Nothing but good reviews.

Everything else is too expensive to justify (Injen cai, udp, test pipe, catback), or ineffective (stillen headers). The intake you should get for sound or looks, udp for quicker revving, test pipe doesn't do much and is not smog legal, and cattback is for sound, and you might lose tq over stock exhaust.

No reason why TS ECU and Cattman Y / B pipe shouldn't give you at least a 3 mph on trap.

Come Spring, this will be my set up anyway. Sure would be nice to have an Auto VQ35 with couple exhaust bolt ons and ecu reprogram trapping 97-99 mph. That would be pretty filthy.

Good times.

This really tells me the track I go to really sux. To get a good time, you have to be one of the first cars out there. After the V8's hit it, you can forget about any form of traction. They do relatively nothing to it other than fill the water box.

One of these days I will get to hit one of the "good" tracks that everyone is posting such low numbers on. Of all the '02-03 Altimas and Maximas that Ive seen run stock at that track, I have the lowest stock ET @ 14.907 ( 2.34 60' ). Everyone else is in the 15.1 range. Really pathetic...

I think that CLS guy was BSing about his mods or he had a manual and didn't know how to shift. I have a nicely broken in stock 2002 TLS and the first and only time I went to the track, I hit 14.71@ 96.3 MPH. The trip wasn't well planned so I had some stuff in the trunk, a full tank of gas, bald a$$ tires, and it was a pretty hot day (85 degrees plus). I went with my friend who has a black automatic 2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan. His best run was a 14.9@94.9 MPH. I'd go again but the nearest 1/4th mile track is more than 90 minutes away Regardless, nice times for a stock car.

How were the track conditions. Also r u stock? Those are some bad a$$ times and if you can pull those 60's on stock tires that is awesome. Regarding the CL-S there was one that I ran against when me and Ferb were at the track in Wisconsin and the guy kept running 15.5 all night when we talked and I told him that I kept running 14.8 and 14.7 he right away asked me what I had under the hood.

It's wierd though, I honestly thought the acura's were a tad faster. Just a tad?? I haven't had a chance to have runs with a type s, but my mom drives a type s, and although the max picks up a lot better (lighter, more torque and low end) but I still feel like my mom's tl can run (and puts out more power once the engine gets revving! Correct me if I'm wrong... I do hear a lot about these acura kills though...who knows

I ran a CL-S three times and beat that car each time first time was at the track. Ferbs was there to vouch for me that CL-s was running mid 15's all night. Second time was right after work I see this CL-S creep uo next to me but he is still on my back bumper. He wanted to get a head start when the light turned green, but I was ready. Right before the light turned green he started slowly pulling but I still got him. We were dead even all the way to 60 and then I pulled on him by 1/2 car ( take under consideration that he was rolling and I had to take off from dead stop) and the 2 lane turned into 1 and I was ahead of him. The third time I wasnt even ready this kid next to me didnt even look over he was just sitting there and then took off and I took off right after him I cought up at about 70 and then we shut it down cause he had to exit, but I stared pulling on him.

You have to really nail the mid-high rpm launch on an RSX-S (or any other previous iteration ITR, GSR, etc) in order to get the best times at the track, or street for that matter. The BEST I've ever SEEN an RSX-S run at the track is 14.99 92 with an AEM intake. Usually they run low-mid 15's. Nothing to sneeze at though. ITR's are in the same boat. GSR's usually run mid-high 15's. A supercharged (believe JRSC) GSR ran 14.6 at 100 mph, at GLD in Union Grove, so they can be made to be real quick.

As per always no torque = gutless launch.

CL-S and TL-S is another question altogether. Both have a lot of grunt, and honestly auto xL-S to auto VQ35 Max, stick xL-S to stick VQ35, its a horserace and comes down to a drivers. As XFirepwr mentioned, a poorly driven auto CL-S might run a low-mid 15, but most are doing high 14's stock. I tried testing a CL-S auto on the highway, well lets just say we were mirror images of each other to 125. These Acuras have b a l l s top end.

Man I ran against taht supercharged GSR that night, we were dead even till about 80 and then he pulled on me by 1/2 car I was so ****ed I then looked at the time slip and he had me by .01 sec, but his trap was about 3-4 miles higher than mine I remember that much.

Nice times, our cars run the same times bone stock, but after mods, we can get the time down to the low 14's also. Great times
