The K&N comes with a 3"pipe adapter that mounts directly on the Frank midpipe. The Apexi requires an adapter which the only person I know that sells it is Frankencar. The sound should be very similar between the filters. I am not sold that the Apexi was any better than the K&N. When I switched from FrankenCar to Injen, I also went from Apexi to K&N. I am happier now.

I dont see why they would sound different. As for filter fitament, i dont really know. I dont think they are different..maybe someone who went from K&N to APEXI can share their thoughts.... Some people had probs with the K&N and 2 much oil on the filter, but have almost 8K on my K&N with no problems....

For what it's worth, I'm running an Injen Intake. I switched to an Apexi Filter and I noticed the sound is a bit more muted.

The K&N is larger in surface area than the Apexi-
dont know if that accounts into anything-
I've had 17K on my K&N w/out cleaning it once and no mAF probs to date
