ran with a sleeper prix

last nite iw as comin home and i was stopped a red light...next to me was a the previous grand prix and a civic...what boggled my mind was i heard a LOUD LOUD rumblin that usually comes from an american v8 muscle...but i couldnt see anything..lite turned green and all of us just went our way at usual speeds but i kept hearin this rumblin...i looked over to my rite and it wasthe grand prix..it cant be that car i thought to myself..i saw the rear end and it had stock pen1s pipes maybe 1in diameter...so i just step on it cuz i like to drive a lil faster then normal...then i suddenly hear this loud growl and that grand prix just flies rite by..i floored my pedal..but it was so damn hard to catch up..felt like i was racin a firehawk or something...at the next lite i asked him what he had under the hood. he just smiled and said its a v6 "done rite"..i think he was bsin and he probably put a trans am engine or something cuz i have a 2k3 and i was gunnin my car and that car kept pullin more and more had a good 6-8cars in front of me..can a regular v6 grand prix do that modded???

2003 GTP - 3.8L 6 Cylinder 240 hp Supercharged
but ill take my max anyday. better looking, etc. the GTP interior is nasty IMO, dash lighting is the nasty red that most GM cars have. no power seat option. not as nice all together

what year would you say the pontiac was ? i dont know if dropping a 350 in the grand prix body is possible due to the dimensions of a 350, or if the weight distribution would be thrown for a loop, esp with it being a fwd car.

Unless he converted the thing from FWD to RWD I doubt he has an LS1 in it. It's probably a GTP with a load of work done to it... 3.8L V6 supercharged... pretty easy motor to make a lot of HP with.

Props to you for admitting defeat to gramps. Some old coots will get on it.

Yeah, those supercharged GP's can be made pretty damn quick. Hell even bone stock, they run low-mid 15's at 92+ all day long.

My buddy in his Z06 had a difficult time beating a newer GTP who was intaked/pullyed/exhaust/drag radialed at the track once. Z06 ran 12.8 GTP ran 13.1.

It takes a lot less $$ to get those GTP's to 12s and 13s compared to our cars, thats for damn sure.

And yeah, lowblackdub, you're right on target about the GM 231 cubic inch motors. The architecture of those engines (now and in the past) has always been pretty insane. Need proof, look at the older GM FI 231's, the Turbocharged and Intercooled Buick Grand Nationals, T Types, and Turbo Trans Ams. I actually got a chance to see a Buick GNX (311 of 547) at the track once, he had some bolt ons, built bottom end 14 lbs boost and he was running low 12's all day. Who needs a V8 ?

shooot i want a v8 muscle...even tho they always break down at the track...axles come off, transmissions fall off...man i guess ppl in my area just dont care of their cars much before they goto the track...but yeah that gramps was havin fun all day with me...it was so hard tryin to keep up

GTPs are slightly heavier 3400+ lbs, where stick 5th gens 3225 auto 5th gens 3275. Not to turn this into a dyno thread, but the 246 tq rating on our engines is such a joke. My max has 246 hp and 255 tq

They just got the numbers juxtaposed. Our cars have more than 246 tq.
