removing center vent.. how to?
ok I need to take it off so i can do something i need. i looked at it today and it is a separate piece from the other center console trim but i didn't see any way of removing it. So, anyone who knows how, what the heck do i do?
see pic below for exact part and for anything else.. bose + digital climate so i am paranoid of slicing through any wires and would rather ask than explore.

If you just need to get the vents off, ur going to need to pull up towards the ceiling and out towards the back seat at the same time with a lot of force. there are two metal clips that hold this piece in place, no screws, so do not be afraid of breaking anything...
I just did this last night actually.
DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER. It'll "crush" the delicate dash material around the vent piece (even with a towel) and will look like crap. Trust me on that one
Easiest way to do it is open the vent panels so they're pointed straight at you...stick your fingers inside the top vent slots (both hands if possible)...squeeze your fingers against the sides, or whatever you can grip, and give a quick pull out and upward at the same time.
Mine popped right out when i did that
The replacement popped right into place

I used a screwdriver in haste to get mine out. Delicate dash material indeed. Its all crushed, and its all I can focus on when i get in the car. Use the proper tool. Probaby a trim removal tool or something similar.
I removed mine last week to hardwire a GPS. Do not use a screwdriver to do the initial loostening. The finger pulling thing did not work for me.
There are 2 holes on the bottom of the vent facing up between the vent vanes.
I used 2 long (8 inch? peg board hooks) put a hook on the ends with 2 pair of pliers. The hook can only be 1/2 inch or it wont fit through the vanes. I had to use what felt like 40lbs of pull to get it loose. Once it was partway loose I did use a screwdriver, but dont touch the outer edges.

Don't use a screwdriver. Put your thumbs in both vents and push up, this will unhook the bottom clips. Use a pick tool (like what a dentist uses to scrape the plaque off your teeth) and put it thru the vent and pry out the inner clip while gently pulling out on the vent. I needed a little probe light to see where to pry inside the vent. It's very difficult the first time but easy after that.

trying to shove a 7.2" lcd in there and it seems it would fit rather nicely.
