Well, after toying with the GXE kit and pocket (courtesy DAVEB), I still wasn't satisfied with the way it looked. The trim around the radio looked like hell and wasn't lining up. Also, the face of the radio stuck out too far.

I took my car to Soundwerks and they fabricated a custom bezel to go behind the GXE trim. I guess it had better look good for a $180 dash kit.

the part that goes around the radio and the pocket came with the GXE trim???

The install looks awesome, but that "trim" piece doesn't really match. $180?????!!!!!!! Ouch.

Now I actually think it looks like crap. The texture doesn't match. The install looks great, but I think I need to cover the trim piece in vinyl or something. Any suggestions?

Once it starts to mess up, you will definetly want a new one. My steering wheel control is on crack as well. As times you hit the volume button and the track changes then you'll hit the track button only to find nothing is happening...then it changes like 5tracks at once 10sec later, once again

I think it looks schweet! I too have the GXE trim and I know exactly what you're talking about Andy, I just got used to it, because fixing that 1 inch gap between the deck and the pocket is not worth 70 dollars to me... Very nice though!

Just wait and see. There is a gigantic gap between the deck and pocket.....well, at least with Kenwood.

I'm vinyl wrapping it today hopefully. The texture just doesn't look right.

The trim piece on the deck and the pocket were about 1/4" apart. Also, the trim piece for the pocket stuck out 1/4" further than the radio's trim piece. I tried moving it back, moving the deck up, etc, but it still looked weird.

Yours looks 1000x better than mine did.

You actually used 'their' incorrectly (I'm going to their house tonight). You should have used 'there' (I'm just planning on slapping one of these in there). At least I think that's how it goes

Yes, bremner is correct.

Andy, I thought it looked good, and I do not see a difference in what you did with the vinyl...

try and put the Kenwood trim ring around it. That should take care of the gap

I like that but.......

a) What if you have a Titanium edition? Do they have the plastic pieces to match that?

b) What if youi were to get a wood kit for your car?
Would they have to customize pieces to go around the radio area.

BTW Brenner, Good taste. I love my Eclipse.

No.....but they could make one.

You would get that portion for the 00 GXE. You would not be able to cover the inner portion though unless something was custom made.

That's Hitman SE's radio...Brenner just screwed up the reply.

Tried it. Too thick, too deep and too ugly. It is bright silver.

It is actually just a different material that I had cut and put on there. It looks a lot better in person.

I fully agree but for some reason, it fit better for me too. Also, it puts the deck a bit more within reach.
