Definitive Auto Launch Techniques!

Hey guys,

I've got an auto 2k, and ive heard a million launch techniques. Has any one tried them at the track and found the best one.

Here are a few examples

-start in 1 and shift up to 2 and D, (or this with OD off)

-start in 2 and shift up D, again (or this with OD off)

Either of the two with a brake torque at about 1300 rpms

Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Those two really aint no different cause the car still starts out 1st anyways.

You can brake torque it at about 1500 or so, but then traction is an issue. Slicks will always help.

Best launch for me is always Manual shift 1->2->D but leave O/D on. If you turn O/D off it will cause the Torque converter to lockup through 3rd and makes it pull a bit slower to redline...

You shift when you get almost to redline.

I believe it to be better use of the torque curve to not let the converter lockup, by leaving overdrive on. I do not have comparison timeslips, however... I have raced my friends in both scenarios though, and at least for my 2k auto it is better to leave o/d on.

I cannot say if this applies to 2002+ though!
