Is the G35 just a fancy Maxima?

Sorry for the ignorant questions, but I tried to search and was refused
access to that service.

I was just wondering...

1) Does the G35 use the same wheel bolt pattern/offset as a Maxima?
1a) Does the 2004 Maxima use the same wheel bolt pattern/offset as
the older style 2002 Maximas?

2) Does the 2004 G35 have the same engine as a 2004 Maxima?

3) Is the G35 basically just a fancy Maxima? (Same platform?)

Thanks for any input you might have!

Maxima is a bigger heavier FWD. G35 is a lighter, smaller RWD sports car. They might share some chassis stuff but it's a very different car.

Bolt patterns for maximas etc. can be found in the wheel/tire section.

just the FWD vs RWD is a large enough difference to separate the cars. But Infinity is a branch of Nissan, so there are of course some similarities. Not sure, but the G35's engine: is it mounted like the Maxima? or like the Z's (forget the terminology for each... transverse vs ______)

Nope, it's a fancy altima...

Same engine, same bolt pattern, offset is probably the same.

G35 is a four-door version of the 350Z. Same engine, same transmission(s), same suspension pieces, same platform. Which is also the same platform that the G35 Coupe is based on. It's rear wheel drive with longitudinal engine layout.

Max is upgraded Altima platform, FWD and transverse engine placement -completely different car -which is not saying some parts are or are not interchangeable...just that it's a wholly different hill of beans

BTW G35 is called NISSAN SKYLINE in Japan.... R35 to be exact, so it's like comparing apples and oranges

In addition... in Japan, the Maxima is known as the Cefiro A32/A33. Actually it's the I30/I35, but badge as Nissan Cefiro.

5th gens are unique shared only with the i30-35. 6th gen is closely based on the altima as is Murano and quest, believe it or not. G35 is stretched 350Z and quite different. I am sure all Nissan exept all/some of the Sentras are 5X114.3 bolt circle (as are v6accord and Camry by the way). Only very minor diffs in the engines, and thats all in the plumbing/motormounts etc.

Sorry Tac_M. The G35 sedan and coupe are known as the V35. I think if they made a GT-R out of the coupe, then it could claim the R35 badge. Actually they should make a Skyline GT-R R35 V-Spec!

Found the V35 designation here. Impul Japan

I just dug up a old product brouchre a friend from Japan gave me when the Skyline (G35) sedan first appeared and I found something very interesting. This car was in the Japanese market for one year before coming to US shores. That means it was introduced in the summer of 2001. The sedan has three different models based on engine AND the 4WD option.

250GTFour 4WD VQ25DD
300GT RWD VQ30DD
250GTe RWD VQ25DD

All auto, no manual. Suprisingly the US versions have the bigger 3.5 block and it took 2 years to get the AWD G35 to the US market. Now I wish I had info on the coupe!

Completely different animal,FWD vs RWD.Sure they share the same VQ35DE and some suspension, and the Maxima is a bit bigger than the G35 I believe. But the Maxima was actually a fancy Altima.

Read the previous posts. We're talking about the 5th gen Max comparo to the G35. The 6th gen may be a fancy Altima, but the 5th gens were produced before the redesigned Altima ever came out.

You're comparing an 04 G35 to the 04 Max, but this is the 5th gen forum.

The 350z/G35/FX35/04Max all appear to use a newer "3rd generation" VQ engine which is tuned for much more top-end power and quieter operation. About 275-285 horses.

The 02-03Max/Altima/I35/Pathfinder all appear to be using the older "2nd generation" VQ engine that's tuned more for low/mid-range power and not for top-end. About 240 horses.

Everybody else covered the chassis/platform differences.
