VB mod vs. Drop Resistor Mod

Hey guys!

I hate how slow my autotragic shifts! How comparable is doin the free drop resistor mod to doing the $450 VB mod? Also if some1 could lead me to the drop resistor mod thread that would rock! Thanks!

the drop resistor is harsher than the vb mod at part throttle, and its effectiveness at WOT appears to be fairly good. The VB mod is a piece of hardware installed in the car that physically allows the tranny fluid to be moved more rapidly, therefore allowing faster shifts to occur. The drop resistor is kinda the 'poor mans' VB mod i guess... thats how I look at it at least. If I could afford the VB, I'd do that, since it firms the shifts at all RPMs but doesnt overdo it.

VB mod is 300 from Max tuning in NY.

Drop mod can blow your tranny, VB mod will increase tranny life.

drop resistor mod is actually good for your tranny cause it reduces the stresses on the transmission. This doesnt mean that there are no other stresses elsewhere, aka engine mounts, etc. But for the actual transmission, the drop resistor mod is NOT harmful. talked to many people regarding this issue. I just installed my switch to "turn on" the drop resistor... easy to do, works nicely.

So how do you do a drop resistor mod?

pull the plug. the connection that is mounted to the right front strut under the hood. its the only one mounted to the top of the strut that you can easily acces. go try it now! takes like 2 seconds and you'll be amazed at what full line pressure feels like at partial throttle
