Difference between maxima 3.5 and G35 motor?

Hi

I was wondering what the difference between the maxima/i35 motors and the G35/350z motors? Why does the g35/350z have 30more hp???

thanks

From previous threads and posts, I believe the max/i35 motors are 2nd generation vq3.5's where as the g35/350z's have the 3rd gen vq3.5's.

Also intake plenum and exhaust manifolds are different. ECU programming may be different too. That's about what I've collected.

I really did wish the max/i35's went back to the rear wheel design....

Let us not forget that or motors are mounted horizontally and thiers are mounted longitudinally. Combine this with different intake and exhaust sytems and there you go.

So the Pathfinder/QX4 were the first Nissans to get the VQ35DE? I wonder why Nissan bothered with equipping them with the VQ35, seeing as they were replaced by the Murano/FX35.

The Pathfinder wasnt replaced by them they just supplement that market along with the old Pathfinder which is moving on to 04. The Pathfinder had the 3.5 when the Murano/FX was still on the drawing board back in 2000 sometimes when it appeared in it.

SteVTEC has a link to explain what the difference is. Hopefully he or someone can post that. I'm interested to read that again.
