How-To Install Heated Side Mirrors

Yep you saw it right! I figured out how to get the mirrors going. Took me all day saturday on Thanksgiving but it's working. I have wanted this because even during the winter I get ice on them all the time. Have fun guys. This is also in the How-To section.

This is awesome. I just tested for this very thing this past weekend. I also found the same results. I have manual climate control and the defogger switch does pass current(with an added relay you mentioned) to the doors. I was just wondering if I needed just the heated glass parts instead of the whole mirror. Correct me if I am wrong...but all I need are the heated glass pieces and some wiring. I don't need the whole mirror assembly right? I would have gone further but I got into programming my new Home Theater remote (still not done BTW).

Ok i'm gonna add this to the web page.

Rich I'll add to it too that it will work with manual control. Thanks!

Ok the How-To has been updated and includes the price and that the manual climate control works too.

You must have read my mind today. I was thinking about getting some heated mirrors for my 2k2. I had them on my 92 SE but I did not want to get pay big bucks for the Meridian package. Do they sell the whole heated mirror assembly that bolts on in place of the original non heated one? Nice writeup.

Yeah I think they do but your looking at spending a lot of money for that.

I see. I'll just check with my Nissan dealer for prices. If it costs megabucks, I'll back away from them.

Just one simple question...

After you remove the interior trim, how do you remove the black piece of plastic that covers the bolts?

Pops right off. It's not held in by a screw or bolts. Kinda of like what the door panel was held on the door by. Those blue things but it's part of the black cover piece.

Nice job Fezzik! I've been wanting to do that for a while, but after doing my heated seats and car stereo, I was sick and tired of pulling the Max apart!

But I do have one question... In the end you said you used a computer jumper to plug into the mirror harness, right? Is that the harness that is clipped into the mirror? Couldn't you just have cut the harness off and connected the wires with a crimp or bullet or something? I just want to make sure I am understanding what you did, that last paragraph isn't entirely clear to me.

Yeah you can do that. But I didn't want to do that and I just happened to have the jumper. If I didnt have the jumper I would have spiced the wires together.

heated mirror relay

Maybe this is the better place to post this Q:

I want to ask those who know what the relay looks like.

I have a white piece there (looks like the female half) of the relay. The other is probably blue or black.
