Hey people,

Well, I just got done test-driving the SE 2001 Maxima with the C&C package but without leather/Bose package. The MSPR was $25,700 (invoice $21,500). I was wondering what you guys paid for your SE Maximas 2000/2001, which options did you include, and what part of the US did you buy it in? I live in Texas, so I'm guessing the price would be a lower then the Northern or coastal states. I just want to know so I can figure out a bargaining solution. Thanks.

Price of new SE

I bought a 2000 SE will all options except the heated seats,
side air bags and heated mirrors.
The sticker was $29,000.
Invoice was $26,000. I bought the car for $26,400.
I had already asked Nissan for a $500 purchase incentive as I had boughten a new 89 Max. 11 years ago. To keep me in the Family they said sure, so I got another $500 sent to me after I bought the car. It never hurts to ask.
So with tax and Lic I was out just over $28,000.

Good luck.
Mike from WA state.

To really know what people paid, you also have to take into consideration whether there was a trade involved, whether they paid cash, financed or leased...
I have an 00 5spd SE with the C&C, but no bose or leather. I paid 22,900 for mine in southern NH... it was a cash deal with no trade and it was a brand new car (not a demo or something)

You should also factor into the discussion at what point in the model year was the purchase made. A 5sp might be harder to negotiate than an automatic model due to availability.

For bargains, check for leftover 2000 models. I was offered a black 2000 SE stripper (no options, 5speed) with 1400mi for $19,200.

Chicago area price

I bought my 2000SE auto, used (6K miles) with C&C, 17-inch rims, sunroof deflector, mud guards, mats (no leather, no BOSE) for $21,400 cash no trade. I bought it in late December. Dealer wanted to give me $5M for my 96 Taurus GL, I sold it myself for $7200 on Autotrader.com. I really wanted a 5-speed but they were scarce in the Chicago area during my search (Nov-Dec). I found a 2000 SE with a 5-speed, but it had about 28K on it, 16-inch tires and I couldn't get the dealer lower than $20,800. When I looked at the two, it was a no-brainer.

Stockmax sounds like you got a great deal. You basically let someone else break the car in, then paid $2-3M less than invoice on a fully loaded 5-speed. In a hot color, no less. I did a lot of looking, and nobody had a demo with a 5-speed around Chicago, at least none they wanted to part with. What part of the country did you get the car?

I am in Southern California. Was looking for an SE without leather or Bose, but couldn't find one with a 5spd. When I came across the demo, "forced" myself to accept the extra options.

stock: you didn't get that in la canada, did you? me and my bro went to foothill nissan (prik sales people) and then went to another dealer down the street...don't remember the name. manager drove the car you described but wouldn't lower the price even though he had 7k on it and some damage to the interior (had kids).

Sticker price on my 2000 SE with every option was $29,722. I only paid $26,800. Got a deal because momma and pop got their 2K Maxima's from the same dealer. Plus I had bought my '97 SE from the same dealer as well.
