Maxima in her first snowstorm

Maxima buried in snow

We got 10" of snow here.
After having to drive in the snow yesterday I've decided that with 26k on my sh!tenzas I'm either going to kill myself with them or I'm gonna get some real tires.
So I'm going with the later. I'll just save my potenzas for when I wanna go to the strip...or burnout.

It's not the bra so I don't think it matters. It's just a bug shield.

I got them installed for about $118/tire (225/45/17). Tire Rack has them for $108/tire. Not a bad price at all esp. given how well they've performed for me in all kinds of weather.

I just got my ContiExtremes last weekend form the TireRack (235/45/17 for $111/tire + $15/tire install). Vast improvement over the Craptenzas!!!! WHile it hasn't snowed here in the Chi yet, it will next week. So far, I have driven on some wet streets and the ContiExtremes are SOOOOOOOO much better than those stock ****es the car came with. I definitely recommend the ContiExtremes. FYI: TireRack has them filled to 36psi and there isn't any excessive bulge from the sidewalls.

JUST now got back into my driveway in my 2k SE with 8k new Mastercraft Avenger LSR 17's....ridiculous, of course i live on the top of three large, steep grade hills with my driveway being a steep steep incline.....two 50 lb bags of salt, a shovel and a little back and forth action and I was in....had to get out of the house after being couped up for two days.....the bar was calling....i used to think i hated snow before, but this is my first winter all the way up here on the hill....now i hate it even more.....

Gotta love this California weather...By the way I like your tires and rims.
Did they cost much ?..I have the same color & year as you and Ive been
looking around for some decent shoes. What size are they ? My car wont be ready till the end of Dec but after hearing how bad the
stock tires are, I think I should make the investment.

it's 30-40 degrees out here, still driving those blowtenza as you guys call it. 27k miles on it and still no sign of worn treads on it. I wonder if those blowtenza are not really RUBBER as they should be. The are probably made of those rubbery plastic that slick on wet surface.

It is a bug/rock shield. Not a bra. I wouldn't have a bra on in the snow.
Bras will protect it, but you will notice fade marks when you take the bra off.
I would never use one on a car that I cared about the paint on.

Drove up into the mountains of West Va. yesterday to ski...several people drove, but mine and my boy BB had maxes (his a 2k1 auto)...well to make a long story short, he has blowtenzas and got stuck a number of times...even in the McDonalds parking lot before the mountains started. (he had 2 passengers)...I had 4 people in the car total and had no problems climbing snow-covered hills or stopping. Obviously I still slipped on some hard ice, but on slush, snow (some up to 8") no problem. I have new Falken Ziex 512s...they worked as advertised....great in the winter stuff..i felt very secure even at higher speeds on slush-covered highways.

I care about my car's paint and I have been using a Colgan custom bra since it was new. I do not have any fading or paint damage from the bra anywhere. When used properly, bras do more good than bad. I used a bra on my previous 92 SE for nearly 10 years without problem one.

They don't make Conti Extremes in a 50 series so I had to go w/45. I'm lowered so the gap isn't that bad and I can't really notice much difference in ride quality. Was thinking about gettin 55 Contis but I had no idea how it'd look on my car so I just took the safe route and got 45 (didn't want them "tucked" into the wheel wells).

i've used that tire calculator, and the 215/50 gives a more accurate speedo error than 225/45. conti's make both sizes, but most people seem to go w/ the 225/45. anyone here run the 215/50?

Falken 512s in stock 225s....best all-season tire for the $$...almost as good as the Pilot AS but almost half the price. Like I said above, they handle the snow extremely well, as well as rain and dry.

Although I have minimal miles on them so far (only about 6000), they've performed great for me. I'd def. recommend them esp. considering the price..Tire Rack has tons of reviews on them so you can see the positives/negatives there. Speedo error is a consideration, but I didn't really care about it b/c I wanted something cheap + a good all-season performer. Definately check out Tire Rack though for more opinions from ppl w/more miles

Nice car, I like your friend's color, the Grey Lustre. How much those tires cost, did you get them at Tirerack.com?

I have been saying this for a few days now that the North East got pounded by the snow storm..

POTENZAS ARE SH-T!!!!!!

i drove all through the storm weekend and these tires are atrocious in any condition other than totally dry in the summer.. I knew they sucked in the rain but I didn't think they'd be as bad as they were in the snow.. Horrible.
slipping all over the place, no traction, spinning as taking off from a stop very lightly... spinning in 2nd gear giving it gas going low speeds.. constantly losing control..

pathetic tires.. should NOT be considered all season.

Those of you who put these stockers back on for the winter.. you better off running your other wheels, lol.

i'm going to get some snow tires.. otherwise, i feel an accident coming on soon

the whole skinny tire to cut into the snow/ice thing applies onroad, but when off-road its a whole different ball game (well atleast for me). Floating is fun.

It's also fun to make racing stripes on snow covered cars, among other designs.
