Rear View Mirror....RIP ! :=(

My rearview mirror just snapped off. This was done courtesy of 2 Eclipse Aluminums and 2 800 watt Fosgates...

Its been shaky for the longest time , and now it just snapped off !

Any ideas on an alternate replacement , besides having to go to Nissan and get raped for an OEM replacement ?

I pulled over into a parking lot and tok these pics...

I do know that the mirror vibrates EASILY. With the stock BOSE it rattles a little. I just put in a 140w amp with a 12" sub and it rattles the mirror. I wired up the amp and tapped EVERYTHING off of the stock wires. EVERYTHING: speaker input, ground, turn on lead and yes... the power cable (probably like 20 gauge wire or something.) I just didn't feel like tearing apart my interior and running cables to the front of the car.

Same thing happened to mine and goldmembers. Goldmembers just like urs, mine, the whole fuggin mirror came off. I ride without one, no need for it, tint is too dark to see out at night, subs shake it too much to see with it during the day...

I get the feeling that my mirror will rattle off sometime.. I use it religiously though, even while I can't see anything. Why? I am constantly checking for popo's..

Actually Igor, it DID snap off due to the Bass....It snaped in two at its weakest point. Like Phat said, I know this had happened to Goldmember. The only good thing is I dont have to hear that POS rattle all the time. I got a call from Nissan saying that it retails for 600 bucks.......yeah right ! I will just get an aftermarket one , since I need it to keep an eye out for POPOS....
I was playing " Whats Beef "..Notorious Big with both my rear seats down... at full blast when I saw it shake in a weid way and just SNAP !........

Lowering your seats should give you almost 3dB, which is like doubling the output of your subs.

If you werent adjusting it back and forth all the time to see both how many cops were behind you AND admire how purdy you are, then it may not have broken. Haaaaaaaaa

There is NO WAY a mirror snapped that caused by your speakers. In the law of Physics, that is made of metal. if it snapped like that, then your windows would shattered too Something is fishy. It was probably a preexisiting defect. Come on, what did you really do?

Seriously, the system broke it off. I have seen the results in two local rides here, phatman's & goldmembers. Both have less total output then kloogys setup, im actually surprised it lasted as long as it did. Serisouly though, a system that hits 130+ db will destroy the mirror.

Kloogy, might want to look into one off a Durango or Dakota, it attaches to the windsheild and you they have the autodimming on it. Just an idea

oh, if you decide to buy new call up DaveSmithMotors (just add a .com to it) and mention DodgeTrucks.com for a discount, I forget how much.
