Idle problem w/ 2k3 maxima

Hello,

I have a 2k3 SE automatic. I have recently noticed that when I am stopped with the car in park/neutral the idle is not smooth. It is not something very noticiable but if you pay attention, it feel like a small vibration (hesitation) every couple of seconds or so. I took it to the dealer and they told me that the computer does not show any problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

how many miles?

When the radiator fans kick in, I feel them there the steering wheel, only in gear though....

Is your A/C on???...When the compressor turns on same sort of vibe....

Maybe your idle RPM needs adjustment....

I think I know what your talking about. Mine seems to behave the same way. It's not anything real noticeable at all (like a fan clutch dragging the engine down or anything), but a ever so slight miss. I've noticed it but never thought much of it. Only notice it when in drive while stopped. But what drives me crazy is that split second hesitation when taking off from start ( and thats suppossed to be drive by wire throttle!) Long Live the MAX.

The motor mounts might have gotten worse on your cars. This can be a reason for the vibration you are getting.....or....it can be your A/T if you "rip" on it a lot.

Lots of 3.5 owners are complaining about this in the 350 forums as well, mine does as well as my 350Z. They just dont idle as smooth as the old 3.0's, I took both of mine in the same day and my tech which have been working on my cars for 7 years said that this is normal and nothings wrong.

I have the same rough idle problem on my 2k2. I have dismissed it as normal since its fine throught the RPM range. I thinks its something we will have to live with. Hopefully no one will complain if I go to sell it!!!

Try upgrading/adding ground wires. I had the same problems 'til I did this, now its all smooth and the car runs better.

Dragsters don't idle smooth but they got a lot a power!! I think what were feeling from our cars is normal , but with liquid filled motor mounts I would think they would absorb more of the vibration.
