Ran into a curb on ice.. Now what???

It snowed here in DC and it was first time driving on ice/snow. I was coming home from Georgetown and on the way home, i tried to stop at a stop sign and couldnt. My Kumho Supra 712's suck in the snow and i drifted right, RIGHT into the curb. My curb rash is nasty, looks like a chunk of it just scraped off. I will post pics later....

Now, my steering wheel is starting to shake when i drive. My first conclusion is that my alignment is off. The wheel doesnt look bent, but apprearances can be decieving. I never heard of alignment being off causing my steering wheel to shake, but who knows? Maybe my tires is not balanced anymore? I only hit the crub with my front right, so im cluess??? Anyone got suggestions on what could be wrong??

THx

I would think about calling the insurance company. A friend of mine had the same thing happen. He did the work himself and it still cost over 300.00 for parts. It doesnt take a lot to damage the tie rods.

When I had steering wheel shake in the past, it was because the tires were not balanced. Maybe the hit with the curb knocked a counter weight off?

I did this in my old bmw. suspension damage was done. From then on my steering wheel shook over the smallest of bumps. Also one of my rims was bent, i couldn't tell that it was. I just ended up fixing the rim and selling the car (trans problems too), bmw parts are too expensive.

So it could be your tie-rods as mentioned by desperado as well as a bent rim.
Sorry man, good luck

get some snow tires before you wreck your car.

Is there any ice or snow stuck inside any of the wheels? It would suck if you went through spending a load of cash and it's only something that could be fixed by a car wash...

Possible huge safety issue here. Get the whole front end checked out.
Do not buy a replacement wheel from the dealer if that is what you need. If they give you a big dollar quote to fix it, ask if it is safe short term and pay them for their diagnostics. Get a report and repost.

Im getting the car checked out saturday. I hope it's not the rods. I really dont know what that is. I mean the rash was enough, but more damage than the tire is killing me. Insurance is no-go for me. deductable is 250, but I already have too many claims on the account, but then again, i might have to go that route if it's something major. Pics will be posted tonight after i come home from work. DC sucks when it snows..!!!

Thx for the info guys, I will see and let you guys know on saturday.

How fast you hit. I hit a curb about 45mph with my wheel turn sideways into the the curb and bent lower A-Arm, Strut, and broke wheel bearing also put big scratch in wheel. Of coarse when I looked at mine I pushed my wheel back about a inch and a half to the back of the front fender.

If it's the tie rod, do it at home. Don't pay crazy money to Nissan techs.

Maybe if you just buy the parts, fellow org memebers around your area could help you install it. I would but I'm 9 hours away from ya

I lived in Rockville and moved to Silver Springs 10 years ago....
