Recommendations for a performance shop near Oakland, CA?

Not quite Oakland, and you don't say for what kind of work you want done, but I've gone to ATP Tuning for dyno tests and they have been very good. They are in Fremont. They work mostly on VW/Audi but I'm sure they would work on a Maxima for at least some things (drop, etc.). Their website is vwturbo.com. Hope this helps.
