Here are pictures of the 4th gen rotors vs. 5th gen rotors

Top rotor is my 5th gen rotor while the bottom one is the 4th gen

Left side 4th gen, right side 5th gen. Yes, the two rotors are flat against each other. Notice how much thicker the 5th gen rotor is. There must be a reason why Nissan made our rotors larger then the 4th gen's. Suggestion... don't listen to Stillen if they say the 4th gen rotors will fit on the 5th gen.

Measurement of the 5th gen rotor

Measurement with the 5th gen rotor. Notice the micrometer is from 1" to 2"

Would you want to use a thinner rotor on the 5th gen? I don't know what would happen if you do, but Nissan made our rotors thicker for some reason (maybe because our cars are heavier?).

So, are you saying the drilled rotors Stillen is offering us today are really the thinner, 4th Gen variety?

That's what I've been saying... from what I know, they haven't done 5th gen rotors yet. So yes, they are the 4th gen rotors.

If someone does call up Stillen about the brakes, please ask if they have 5th gen rotors yet. If they say yes, ask them about the thickness. They'll probably transfer you to the brakes department. Just make sure the thickness is over 1".

Was it the Romans or the Greeks that believed that women had more teeth than men... until someone got the bright idea to count them!

Don't beleive the hype. I think this just adds to Stillens worstening reputation for poor service and even poorer recomendations.

Am I reading the micrometer right? (I've never used one)

1.20 inches for the 5th gen rotor
.8.20 for the 4th gen rotor

Re: then why are 5th gens having problems with

1) It may be from the overtorquing of bolts.

2) While the 5th gen rotors are thicker, it may not be thick enough.

Are the calipers and pads the same size?

Are they interchangable? Ie will they bolt up to a 4th?

Since the 5 Gen is a heavier car, perhaps that is the reason for the size increase.

Seen too many 4th Gen Rotors, and 5th Gen Rotors, they all look the same to me, only difference is the pad size and caliper size. Yes Bigger is Better.
Brett: You know how it is with 1st Year Production Cars. Always problems. Wondering if any of the 2001 owners have any complaints..yet ?

I while back I looked at the specs in the service manual and compared the 99 and 2K, what I found is that the brake pads are the same for 99 and 2K, rear rotors are the same, as for the front calipers they would have to be wider since the 2K front rotor is wider.
