Rotor rusts

Last night installed Power Slots to the front wheels along with Hawk Pads (HPS). My last brakes were screeching and scratching, telling me to change them. BTW, thanks Motorvate for the great instructions. They are truly awesome! I can't believe how great my breaks feel and how effortless it is to stop.

My question is that I already notice rust on the rotors this morning. What can I do to keep them clean and shiny?

Water rusts rotors quickly but to prevent this you'd either need the rotor made of a different material or coat them with something that would inevitably wear off immediately after braking.

Drive the car every day. Pads will wear off the thin surface rust coat. When my wife was driving her car only 3- 4 times a week, I ended up having to replace rotors prematurely, because of rust and pulsations.

If you paint the part of the rotor where the lugs go, or coat it with a rust proof coating, you wont get this.

Yeah.. I painted the part that the pad doesn't touch, it looks a lot better now. I'll probably need to re-do it after the winter though.
