Tranny Update

After the tech told me yesterday that they were most likely going to put in a new tranny into my 00 se auto because it was slamming into gear, he told me to drop it off this morning because nissan told them to run some tests on the tranny. Anyway, he called this evening and told me that he had ordered a drop resistor and that this should take care of all of my problems. He said it should be here monday.
Is nissan beating around the bush of not trying to give me a new tranny because im almost out of warranty or will the drop resistor make any improvements?? Also, my car idles kinda high. At like 35 mph it would be at 2,000 rpms which is not right, the tech saw it and also said that it's not right.
Please help so i know how to respond to him on Monday.
Thanks guys.

A lot of guys here have caused an open in the drop on purpose.
I gave her a try too and it sounds like what it could very well be.
Is the 1-2 almost a slam bang kind of shift with the 2-3 a little softer?

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Did you get this done and did you notice any improvements?? Also, could it have anything to do with my car running like a 4 cylinder?? Seems to have no power on the low end

If he is right, then a new drop resistor says the old one was defective(it failed) and any damage to the tranny because of you driving it around like this is a failure of the power train itself = they should be responsible for replacing the tranny if the new drop resistor does not cure it.

I think if it was the drop resistor, at heavy to WOT it would shift crisply, do you recall how it shifted under those conditions?

Just be sure to talk real calm, slow, keep your right hand in your jacket pocket, mass murderer face on, so they know u mean business.

At WOT it shifted ok but at like half throttle, the thing would take forever to downshift. I mean i could rev it for like 7 seconds or so and it would not down shift, just keep on going to about 3400 rpms and then all of a sudden drop ,like it was late or something. Can there be other possible damage done to the tranny and not only just the drop resistor??

That's actually sounds like the TSB for the Tranny. Did they replace the solenoids and TCM?

Yeah, i got the tsb done and they replaced one solenoid but on the receipt, it said nothing about the tcm. I don't think they did anything to the tcm.

they didn't do anything to my tsb or thottle body when they did my TSB ether...but solenoid alone fixed the problem for me. sounds like your's is a more serious problem.

why don't you just call Nissan directly. lay it all out on the line. "my warranty is about up. you are aware of the problem. are you going to screw me if i go over 60k or are you going to do what is needed to fix this?"

stop going through the dealership. they WILL screw you if you let them. deal with Nissan! then go tell the dealership what they said and have Nissan contact them if needed.
