2k-2k1 SLOWER than 95-99?

I tried to search, but the search wouldnt happen. I was told that my 2k auto is slower than 95-99 manual, given its a 5speed of course it would be faster, but i heard that even the 2k-2k1 5 speed is slower than the 95-99. If so im definitly going to have to get rid of this auto and get a 6 speed. So please say it aint so guys.

you guys are serious?

its been known that the 95-99 5sp are faster because they are lighter and still have a really good engine. they're faster then the 2k/2k1 auto vs auto and it wil lbe a very good run for the 5sp vs 5sp even though most likely the 4th gen will take the 5th gen

2k2/2k3 auto or manaul beat the 3.0 engines no matter what. maybe a really good race will be 2k2/2k3 auto agaisnt 95-99 5sp

Don't think so. Fastest 0-60 for 4th gens that I saw was 6.6 sec. for the manual. Fastest time for an 00-01 5 gen 0-60 was 6.7 with a manual.

I had my butt handed to me in my stock '00 5 spd. I was racing a 4th gen from around 20mph. He pulled me and kept on pulling. He said he only had a catback. I find it hard to believe with how bad, I got beaten, but what can I do.

I raced my boys 5 spd 97 SE with a 2K GLE auto and he RIP'D me. As soon as I got my 2K 5spd he's always been behind me and it will stay that way. We're both stock.

Actually, it's a verified fact that the 2000-2001 manual Maxima's with 17" wheels (stock trim) are slower than any manual 1995-1999 Maxima with their 16" wheels...

So what's to argue over? Total area under the curve divided by vehicle weight = advantage to 4th Gen Maxima...

I never got my a$$ handed from any auto max, and before my 2k1SE Auto I had a 98 SE Auto, and the 2k1 is faster no doubt. I'm not talking about 2K2 + here, cuz with the 3.5L versus the 3.0L that would be like me racing my 9 year old nephew, him with a tricycle and me with my Marinoni 21 speeds. I got a surprise for you big 3.5l cousin, soon my max will be on steroid and will leave you in the dust even with a stick, cuz auto rules. Muaaaaa ahhh ahhh

Have a good saturday everyone.

Cheers

No way, unless it's got some extreme mods, boost or juice. Last summer I raced a local guys who have one with a dual exhaust set-up. I took him off the line end of story.

Cheers

4th gens are quicker than 00-01s. Lighter cars, lighter wheels, same engine. This subject has been beaten to death.

Yes...faster 1/4-mile.

Not faster from a roll or past that UNLESS it has MEVI.

Lose the 24+lbs. OEM 17s if you're THAT concerned about getting beat by a 4th gen..

The only reason I like my OEM 16s. Other than that, jesus they are *** ugly.

a base 2k-2k1 GXE 5speed with 15" rims should be the faster between the two years...

The only max that could quite possible lose to a 4th gen is an SE with the C&C package (17" rims). Otherwise, off-line, the 4th gen will be quicker 0-20mph, but the 5th gen should catch up and past it. From a roll, the 5th gen has the advantage, especially if you go past 100mph

How much heavier is the 5G versus the 4G?? And does that weight negate the additional 42hp (or 47hp for the AE) of the updated VQ30??

Go read the "Battle of the 3.0s" thread. It answers all these questions.

Agreed, I had about 1-1.5 cars on a 97SE, auto vs. auto from 75-100 mph..
